Former President Donald Trump dismissed Kanye West on Saturday as “seriously troubled” after the controversial rapper visited his home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida last week.
“So I help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else, and who has always been good to me, by allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, alone, so that I can give him very much needed ‘advice,'” Trump wrote on social media, referring to West’s multiple antisemitic rants that prompted major companies to exit from their media and fashion sponsorships with the rapper.

What might improve Trump's position with evangelicals will almost certainly demolish his position with "independents". And vice versa.
Most of the "independents" lean Democrat and want to believe the pretty lies that the Democrats tell. And the Democrat program of "free stuff for our supporters, paid for by taxing our opponents" has undeniable appeal to a base of around 45% of the population to begin with. It is not that hard to push things over the edge to a Democrat victory.
And Democrats are the ones counting the votes. It is not clear whether actual voter's choices really matter at all.
Democrats might even be able to win honest elections in many places. Opposing candidates who are truthful are consistently seen as "too mean and abrasive" to be elected.
The strongest pathways which determine who will rule over us do not require elections except as distractions to soothe the general population. The critical decisions are made elsewhere and by other means.

It doesn't speak well of “the evangelical vote” for allowing a literal Dip $hit win the Governorship of Arizona. Nor does it speak well of Arizonans to accept waiting for hours to vote because the so called honest Election Officials don't know how to run an election. But of course Mr. Rogers, you would know best.
Evangelicals didn’t abandon Kari Lake, but enough McCain Republicans and Mormons did. Probably because Lake made it clear she didn’t want their vote!
If Chicago had 80% or more of people voting by mail, it would take a long time too. Or maybe not. What slows the Arizona counting is the verification and the legal requirement to “cure” a ballot: If there is a question, they call the phone number on your ballot envelope and you can come in with photo ID and answer any questions.
If the vote is close enough, absentee ballots with a postmark of the day of election have to be counted. That isn’t fraud. I’m ex military and I wanted MY vote counted.
Since over 80% of Arizona voters vote by mail, it will NOT be eliminated. And maybe if more Republicans HAD voted by mail instead of waiting until election day to go in person, Kari Lake would be our next governor!
But if conservatives want to win in 2024, nominating a loose cannon who cannot win is DUMB. Heck, if the GOP candidate can’t even consolidate the GOP vote, then what hope is there of winning independents?
You want the emotional satisfaction. I want to win in 2024 and get Biden/Harris OUT OF OFFICE. And Trump won’t deliver on that because he isn’t the relatively unknown quantity he was in 2016 and his behavior since losing in 2020 - fraud or not - has been increasingly erratic. He’s shot himself in both feet and both knees. No one to blame but himself.

Good point. There was no bitter primary in Arizona. The AZ Attorney General (Rep) did NOT go on 60 Minutes a week before the election and call Kari Lake crazy. The AZ Gov (Rep) campaigned repeatedly for her although did so without anyone noticing he had. And Kari Lake did NOT tell “McCain Republicans” to get the hell out of the party or attack McCain as a “Loser” in spite of the press reports quoting her.
It was all my imagination.
That is why Kari Lake CRUSHED the Democrats in the election, only to have Crafty Kati Hobbs, who only worked 19 days in 2022, steal the election by printing up hundreds of thousands of fake ballots...in REPUBLICAN MARICOPA COUNTY!

And...Trumps statement that “Kari Lake should be installed Governor of Arizona.” makes Trump look stupid and a bit psychotic. Who is going to “install” her?
Trump’s behavior AFTER the 2020 election has cost him a lot of support. He could have taken it like a man and buckled down to work on winning in 2024 but instead refused to face reality.
FR can be a bit like Twitter: It is an echo chamber. “I’m confident AMERICA is conservative because FREEREPUBLIC is and I spend a lot of time here.”
But spending time discussing things with like minded people blinds one to the real world just as thoroughly as the Twitter mobs who believe they represent the vast majority of America.
Many Republicans WON very close elections in 2020 & 2022. We accept their victory. Many also lost close elections. So we claim massive voter fraud?
The delusions need to STOP! The best squadron I was in had a basic rule for every debrief: “We discuss mistakes and results, not excuses!” It was printed on the wall of every briefing room and it was what made that squadron a great squadron.
Time for conservatives to do the same. If there is cheating, then we need to figure out how to out-cheat them - because there will be no changes to Arizona election laws with Hobbs as Gov! But we also need to stop acting like spoiled brats and buckle down, figure out what went wrong, and do the things we CAN do to win in 2024.
