It’s still true even with .500 Special, just less so. You still have excessive muzzle blast and flip even with .500 Special. This is why even the weaker .44 Special has fallen out of favor as a defensive round.
Agreed. Have the battle of conceal carry is knowing when to run and when to pull the weapon. At least she only got hit in the arm. I say it was a successful engagement.
We do not know the circumstances. She may have been physically blocked from moving the car.
It is a common tactic.
The idea that she was somewhat at fault because it was 2am is messed up.
Not saying it was wise, but no bad on her.
Back when I EDC’ed a 9mm it was a Ruger P85MKll 17+1 ready to go and 2 35 Round spare Mags all in a shoulder rig that would cover with just a light jacket or a XXL shirt untucked and unbuttoned.
While our politicians and their activists allow the thugs free reign we have to see more of this so the message is sent to those who comitt these crimes you may be a statistic if you try
Car might have been disabled and the four would be killers heard the tow truck call over a radio
Plenty of FReepers blaming the victim for the crime of holding down a job in Chicago.
She did good. Would you have done as well?
She survived and took out goblin. More than most will ever do.
It’s a good sign when the perps are in need of more range time, not the victims.
A lot of car jacking scenarios block the target car with cars or other obstacles. She may have not been able to drive the car further.
Let me guess? They were all Amish?
Yeah, it’s always better to cut and run.. NOT
Practice often and then more, if required to use deadly force, use deadly force and empty your magazine or cylinder on the perp and rearm as soon as possible.
Her mistake was living in Chicago.
They tried to steal the drugs she brought to sell
Her mistake was sitting in a car in Chicago at 2 AM in the morning.

It’s not particularly safe at 5 AM, 10 AM, noon, 2 PM or 5 PM either.
Thanks. You made the same debate I routinely have with my grandson-in-law.
He’s a Marine Reservist now, but he’s been trained with the 9mm platform. His EDC is a highly modified Glock, I don’t recall what frame number, 15+1.
I on the other hand consider the 9mm to be insufficient in stopping power for the region I live. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Everyone layers clothing from October to June. If it’s not cold enough for a puffy thermal jacket that everyone wears up here except me, they make me look like a row & pleated Pillsbury Doughboy, or because most criminals are from warmer climes and haven’t learned how to walk between raindrops wear raincoats. I want something that I know will make it into the body of the perp.
I used to carry a .380 Taurus revolver. During training back in 1980 or so, a shooting buddy I trained with started carrying a .45. We placed a 1980 King County Yellow Pages Telephone Directory as a target to see penetration. Compared to the .45 my .380 had the penetration just slightly better than a wrist rocket. Like you said, if I needed to defend against multiple marauders I would get dead even though I could speed reload the Taurus.
Since then, the crime has skyrocketed, we got many of the deranged souls from Castro’s Mariel Boatlift as the region is now seeing Maduro’s thugs he purged. It’s not safe to leave home and go into the 3 county area of western Washington known as Pugetopolis unless you are armed. Check out this story from earlier in the week. This happened in what used to be one of the most safe places in Pugetopolis! https://mynorthwest.com/3728843/details-emerge-man-shot-killed-southcenter-parking-garage/
IMHO, if you don’t carry the bare minimum of a 9mm in a platform that gives you at least 10+ rounds, then you are taking a serious chance of being overpowered. My current EDC is a Ruger SR40 15+ 1. Lighter and more rounds with just about as much stopping power as your .45 and it’s lighter on my belt. I have “Dunlop’s” disease, my belly dun lopped over my belt pushing everything south, a heavy .45 would require tactical suspenders!
Stay safe.
