PULLED IN TWO DIRECTIONS 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.....23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ... (Philippians 1:21,23) As Christians, we are pulled in two directions. We all want to go to heaven, but this life also holds great appeal. We are like the youngster in Sunday school who listened intently while the teacher told about the beauties of heaven. She concluded by saying, "Raise your hand if you want to go to heaven." Every hand shot up immediately...except one. "Why don't you want to go to heaven, Johnny?" "Well," he replied, "Mom just baked an apple pie for dinner."
Now, we don't need to feel guilty for having a strong desire to enjoy life. Marriage, a family, a fulfilling job, travel, recreation...these all have a legitimate appeal. But if the delights of our earthly home are so attractive that we lose sight of God's purpose for putting us here, something's wrong. The apostle Paul had mixed feelings too. Although he believed he would be released from prison, he knew that he could possibly fall victim to Nero's sword. This created a conflict. He longed to be with Christ, for that would be "far better" (Philippians 1:23). He also wanted to live...not merely to enjoy life but because he was needed by his fellow believers (v.24). Paul was pulled in two directions, and in both cases it was for the highest reason. What about us?

Ordered! We’ll see how it works. I’ll just throw it down on top of the soft fleece throw they sleep on now, for padding. It’s sort of fleece on one side and “sherpa” on the other. Very cuddly looking. Not too expensive, so I won’t feel bad if they hate it. But they aren’t that picky.
See ya! :)

Well, yay for a gorgeous day there. And not too chilly. We only have one day of low 50s in store for the next week and the rest will be mid 40s at best.
Low 50s is about right for Gizmo. Just cool enough to make him frisky. LOL

That was quick. LOL I hope they do like it and enjoy being warm this winter. Who knows how many cold fronts will make a deep dive this year and how frigid it will get?

radu does know a thing or two about “hair”. I will need a massage therapist to visit once a week...have to try to keep the knees and leg muscles functioning.

Oooooooh, I know a little bit about hair. Sometimes I sweep the floors and there’s enough hair piled up to coat a cat nicely. LOL Especially this time of year. Durn cats have it backwards - - grow heavier coats now, shed it in the spring is the way it’s SUPPOSED to work!

I used to be the best masseuse G-D ever made. A natural gift.
Ask my wife, she’ll tell ya...but, with my hands getting weaker and joint stiffness taking over, I can’t even knead bread dough these days. But don’t worry about it, after a month in that warm tropical sun you’ll be playing tennis, against 20somethings!
I’ll still be in the hammock.

Back in the long ago when we still had a house full of kids and cats, and I was much younger and far more fit, one of the idiot cats climbed up a tree and stayed there...in the dead of winter. After 3 days of constant “Daddy, do something!”(which I answered with, “I am. I’m praying she comes down”, or “Have you ever seen cat bones up in a tree?”) I actually borrowed a pair of lineman’s spikes, and whatever that strap rig that goes around the pole is called, and was ready to climb the tree (I have actually done dumber things that that!) when she suddenly came down. Good thing, or our bones would still be up there...if I got that far.
BOY!!! THE DUMB THINGS I’VE DONE IN A LIFETIME!

Yikes! Good thing she came down at last so you didn’t add MORE broken bones to your list. I can understand the kids’ angst since it was the dead of winter.
We’ve had a few cats get stuck in trees over the years but Hubby never offered to climb up to get them. I’d just go out often and try to coax them down until they finally did.
Darn cats can be an aggravation at times. LOL
Get some good sleep. I’m about to scoop litter boxes, make sure the food and water dishes are full, and head off to the bat cave myself. Been a long day.
