PULLED IN TWO DIRECTIONS 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.....23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ... (Philippians 1:21,23) As Christians, we are pulled in two directions. We all want to go to heaven, but this life also holds great appeal. We are like the youngster in Sunday school who listened intently while the teacher told about the beauties of heaven. She concluded by saying, "Raise your hand if you want to go to heaven." Every hand shot up immediately...except one. "Why don't you want to go to heaven, Johnny?" "Well," he replied, "Mom just baked an apple pie for dinner."
Now, we don't need to feel guilty for having a strong desire to enjoy life. Marriage, a family, a fulfilling job, travel, recreation...these all have a legitimate appeal. But if the delights of our earthly home are so attractive that we lose sight of God's purpose for putting us here, something's wrong. The apostle Paul had mixed feelings too. Although he believed he would be released from prison, he knew that he could possibly fall victim to Nero's sword. This created a conflict. He longed to be with Christ, for that would be "far better" (Philippians 1:23). He also wanted to live...not merely to enjoy life but because he was needed by his fellow believers (v.24). Paul was pulled in two directions, and in both cases it was for the highest reason. What about us?

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
A good day at the museum? Getting close to closure for the season? Flip flop weather? Unfortunately, we have started a heat wave...almost 40 today, altho it made for nice driving to work and back. Very wet roads, but not really sloppy wet.

Small Kindnesses
Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
Amanda works as a visiting nurse who rotates among several nursing homes—often bringing her eleven-year-old daughter Ruby to work. For something to do, Ruby began asking residents, “If you could have any three things, what would you want?” and recording their answers in her notebook. Surprisingly, many of their wishes were for little things—Vienna sausages, chocolate pie, cheese, avocados. So Ruby set up a GoFundMe to help her provide for their simple wishes. And when she delivers the goodies, she doles out hugs. She says, “It lifts you. It really does.”
When we show compassion and kindness like Ruby’s, we reflect our God who “is gracious and compassionate . . . and rich in love” (Psalm 145:8). That’s why the apostle Paul urged us, as God’s people, to “clothe [our]selves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Colossians 3:12). Because God has shown great compassion to us, we naturally long to share His compassion with others. And as we do so intentionally, we “clothe” ourselves in it.
Paul goes on to tell us: “over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” (v. 14). And he reminds us that we are to “do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (v. 17), remembering that all good things come from God. When we’re kind to others, our spirits are lifted. — Alyson Kieda
When have you been the benefactor of someone’s kindness? How can you show kindness to another?
Jesus, thank You for showing me overflowing, unlimited kindness. Help me to find joy in doing kind acts for others.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

It was 70 today, and the rain cleared up early so it was beautiful most of the day.
Any day that I don’t have to use up heating oil is a good one! :-0

Howdy, Kathy.
Far from flip flop weather here this weekend. Yesterday, we had the remnants of Nicole giving us drizzle, fog, and cool temps all day. The cold front that came through last night brought winter with it. Only 34 degrees on the mountain and it was 40 here when I came home. Lows in the 20s tonight and it’s going to pretty much be this way for the next week.
It could have been a really fun day at the museum today if I wasn’t very under the weather from a nasty ear inflammation that’s been going on too long. I had two tours today and both were fun groups, but it was all I could do to complete them. No energy at all because I’ve eaten so little this week.
My ears are feeling better today and I hope to be able to eat better the next week. Next weekend is the last weekend open and I really don’t want to miss it. I thought this weekend was the last but they decided we’ll do one more.
Y’all really warmed up this weekend! I see some of the snow has melted on the roof of the tower the Lake Hood cam is on and a little has melted on the parking lot.
How long is this warm spell supposed to last?

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Howdy, TigerHawk!
Thanks for the well wishes. I so rarely get sick or have health issues of any sort (other than allergies), it’s very tough when something knocks me down. When it affects the enjoyment of being at the museum, that stinks, especially when the people I took through on tours were so much fun to be with and were so enthusiastic about what they saw. I did have fun with them but would have had more had I been up to snuff.
How hard has this latest cold front hit your area? Or has it reached you yet? It’s a real shock to us down here in the southlands, I’ll tell ya! I’m ready for Spring! LOL
