(KTLA) – Two female ... social media influencers say they were denied entry into a popular Los Angeles nightclub because of their size.
Ella Halikas said a bouncer told her and fellow “curvy model" Alexa Jay they couldn’t follow their friends into The Highlight Room in Hollywood.
“(Alexa) asked him, ‘Hey what’s going on? I’m with that party you just let in,’ and he said, ‘I know,’ and looked her up and down and said, ‘Not tonight,’”
The women shared their story on social media and said it has resonated with women all over the country.
“It was so dehumanizing,” said Jay. “It was like we were being looked through. If you experienced any type of discrimination like this, you know exactly how horrible and disgusting it feels.”
The women believe this problem goes beyond one nightclub. Halikas said she has received thousands of messages from other plus-sized women sharing similar stories of being turned away from bars and nightclubs.
“One of my plus-sized friends went to a club in New York City and they said, ‘Everyone else can come in,'” said Halikas. “They let in all her thin friends, got to her and said, ‘You can’t get in.’
Halikas [claimed] her career as a model had put her on runways and on the pages of Sports Illustrated magazine, but it still didn’t stop her from being turned away.
The Tao Group, operators of The Highlight Room, responded to the incident by saying:
“We are aware of their experience. The doorman on this evening worked for a third-party promotion company and we’ve removed this individual from the door effective immediately."
The women say ... they don’t believe just firing one doorman is enough. They’re hoping to work on systemic change in the industry while inspiring and empowering other plus-sized women.

Some of these lard-ass women these days are hard to
pass on a freeway, let along a night club hallway.
And on the dance floor, it’s just sad when only five
people plus yourself are safe to be on the dance floor
at a time.
Then there’s the issue of floor joists.
I’ve just never been into the intimidating water buffalo
look.
I don’t know, if my ass was 38 inches side to side, and
trailing my back by 17 inches, I might, just might take
notice and think it was time to cut back on something
other than good advice.
She doesn’t t need it to my eye. She just looks healthy to me.
Must be a racist club that doesn’t allow black dudes. Otherwise they’d be crazy to not allow in fat white women.
She is not fat in any bygone era but now she is considered obese.
We put women on display with a 3% body fat as what a healthy pretty woman should look like now, but 150 years ago they would not have made it through a single harsh winter.
That picture is so sad.

Maybe she just couldn’t fit.....fire regs ‘n’ all....
she is fat
To each their own, you consider her quite pretty I don’t, to me she just looks angry/pissed off. Maybe if she smiled, obviously YMMV.
well good for you!! I prefer to see a slender back side get out of my bed than dimpled cellulite. to each his own i reckon...

What kind of “friends” do these women have? A true friend doesn’t leave another behind regardless of the reason. If my chubby friend couldn’t go into a club with me, I’d suggest we both leave.
That’s about all I got out of this..these girls have lousy friends or there is something else wrong with them beside girth.
One curve on each side, from the head to the toes?
Oh, that kind of bar! Okay, let them in. I don’t go to bars and don’t care. ;D
I personally think it is wrong what they did to these two women.
Here she is smiling.
“real men”
Being a chubbo lover makes you a real man?
or guys who hate paying high heating bills
come back right before last call
Sitcoms have used this kind of scene for years. Must not be at all unusual in trendy places.
