Rubio Suggests Senate Republicans Should Consider Ousting McConnell From Leadership

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio added himself to the growing list of GOP senators suggesting that the party must reevaluate its leadership in the upper chamber following Republicans’ disappointing performance in the 2022 midterms.

In a tweet posted Friday morning, Rubio called for the Senate GOP to postpone its currently scheduled leadership vote next week, saying that Republican members of the upper chamber must ensure party leadership is comprised of individuals willing to advance the will of GOP voters.

“First we need to make sure that those who want to lead us are genuinely committed to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans (of every background) who gave us big wins in states like #Florida,” Rubio said.

With all due respect to other good Red States, Desantis, Rubio and Rick Scott need to simply have free will to remake the national GOP. Neither Rubio or Scott are perfect conservatives, but all three have incredible political instincts on most things, and know how to build a conservative coalition. Saw Rubio earlier in the campaign cycle in person, and like his original 2010 run, he articulates the message of freedom and role of government better than any other elected official since Reagan. He totally blew it on immigration in his first term, but much more good than bad.

Ron Johnson, John Kennedy and Rand Paul should be involved. All fearless in the face of the left. The old guard has to go ASAP.

Yes. I meant if Rubio is saying it and he’s a bit too Rino like Mitch, it means the time has come and there will be wide support for it.

I didn’t mean if Rubio is saying it that it’s therefore a bad idea.

If Mitch has lost Rubio he’s done for.

Gee whiz. I can't imagine why? (/sarc)

Turtle and his ilk are the reasons why we didn't do better. Make no mistake. The GOP establishment sucks as much as the dims. There are arguably worse in many ways.

Trump hated Rubio (as a rival) and attacked him very personally.

But Rubio actually was/is good. I live in Florida and when he came to my town at the start of his campaign I was impressed. He’s a smart man, he is a genuine conservative and Trump should have tried to work with people like Rubio.

Instead Trump left the Deep State in place and just complained about it. And tren obeyed it (with the shutdown and the vax). And I know there’s excuses for this.

McConnell was good at getting the judicial nominations through. But he was horrible at everything else.

However, while I don’t like the fact that he used money to support Lisa Murkowski, he did spend it. I’m sure Trump has a PAC (he’s supposedly sitting on $100 million for his campaign). So maybe he could pitch in to support some candidates?

I’m glad Rubio is calling out McConnell because McConnell, like many others in DC, is past his sell-by date.

Typically, what percentage of the money for senate campaigns is spent by senators, and what percentage by presidential candidates?

Yes I understand what you meant.

Yes Rubio can be too much RINO at times...his amnesty stance must change especially given what has happened in the last two years...we’d be giving amnesty to all sorts of criminals whose past we know nothing of.

But otherwise I think he ranks as ok. Mitch lost Marco, it’s time for Mitch to let someone younger take the steering wheel.

I could live with McCarthy as Speaker since he is ‘owed’, but Jim Banks needs that NRCC slot. Emmer was a complete disaster. Banks was out getting the right people support and to wins. We need to focus on getting new blood in to key roles like that and work their way up.

I am sure most of you won’t agree but I think Rubio would be a good choice. RINO or no, he has the way with words and he can present the GOP position. In addition, he was a very effective speaker of the house in Florida. When it comes to this position, your political bent is not so important as your ability to command the votes. The GOP has a history of being disorganized. I think Rubio could fix that.

ALL 6 public school levies and county levies PASSED in this GOP Dewine vote territory.

GOP or DEM makes no diff here any longer at all with baby murder off the table.

Until the Presidents Working Group on Financial Markets (1998) is struck down, and President Trump resumes office, there IS no Republic as designed. None.

Not enough stones in him to fight the evil demonic rats! Btw, HAVE we EVEN WON THE HOUSE? No one knows for sure …what the hell!!!!!!!!!! You would think McConnell, McCarthy and the fat pig McDaniels(She should put the cake down and start making calls) would be screaming at the top of their lungs at state officials dragging their feet on the ballot tabs for the races. But I haven’t heard a peep out of them! I’m wondering if deep inside they’re hoping we lose both chambers! I wouldn’t pass that by them for one minute!

I understand the sentiment (in a limited way) of people asking why Trump didn’t donate, but my question is, whose job is it to allocate the money? Trump’s or the Speaker’s? The GOP needs to get its shit together or this will keep happening.
