Jewish groups thought Elon Musk was listening to them about antisemitism on Twitter. Then Kanye West came back.
In the week after the rapper who now goes by Ye lost most of his endorsements due to his antisemitic rants, and amid an apparent uptick in broader antisemitic content on the platform, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) met with Musk, the social media giant’s mercurial new owner, about keeping hate speech off the site.
Three days later, all goodwill from the meeting has devolved, as anti-Jewish content on Twitter is experiencing a “prolific surge,” according to the Network Contagion Research Institute, a firm that monitors the spread of online hate and disinformation. The institute said Friday that “terms associated with Jew are being tweeted over 5,000 times per hour,” and that “the most engaged tweets are overtly antisemitic.”
Meanwhile, West has begun calling out individual Jews, such as music mogul Scooter Braun and the sports branding businessman Jamie Salter, on his account, and online networks of antisemites have seized on Musk’s ownership as an opportunity to launch a full-court press of hateful content on the site.
Now, instead of working alongside Musk to develop new content moderation tools, the ADL is calling on all advertisers to suspend their relationship with Twitter, while offering a harsh critique of Musk’s leadership.

After years of having “shvartzes” shouting “Heil Hitler” and “I’m a real Jew! F@#$ you, man!” at me as I walked down the streets of NYC, I don’t really GAGS what somebody does on Twitter. At least they can’t catch up to me and attack me. Internet trolling is just another form of cowardice.

Actually, it has been been getting a little worse but it is usually in the comments, not in the posts.
Childish unnecessary behavior to call for boycotts or bans in any venue - the people who start it are the ones seeking power.....want to show the world they can throw their weight around but only by getting masses to ‘follow’ them down their lane.
I haven’t seen it. Anti-Liberal but not anti-Semitism. Their claim is bait and switch. They are full of it.
Twitter was the left’s darling, receiving only praise as the community square where all view points were heard— as long as only pro-communist/satanic perspectives were presented. In literally days we now see a headlong attack from every direction on Twitter. It is mind-blowing how pissed they are about this one little outlet they may no longer control, consider they control so much else: (i) All news media (ii) Film and television (iii) Corporate (iii) Public Education system (iv) Silicon Valley (v) Unions (vi) Most Seminaries and corporate church leadership
Suddenly the left are the champions of the Jews…who knew.
Follow the money. Defining anti-Semitism to mean that there can be no discussion or difference of opinion is a mask for a very dark message. You don’t see them going after the squad do you.

To the perpetually offended: freedom is not tidy and comfortable. It takes guts and responsibility.
The Leftists such as AOC and The Squad lead a small army of anti-semites. Yet they are never called out. All the colleges and NGOs and "foundations" and corporations (and there are many) involved in BSD (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) against Israel are the true anti-semites. And there are more of them than you think.
As uncomfortable as it may be, I don't want to trade my right to free speech just because some miscreants exercise their right to free speech.
They couldn’t even do a pro forma straight out condemnation of Ilhan Omar’s obvious anti-Semitic trope. They have no credibility.

In my experience, it is those always looking for racism who are actually the racists themselves.
For me, it always comes down to the individual. I really don't care or give much thought to their race or creed.

I’ll bet most of the anti-semitism is from paid trolls or just bots.
Whoever is behind it is using that as a tactic to destroy anyone they don’t like.
The ADL is a hard-left organization, (I believe the head is a former Obama official), that has focused on Musk because the elitists are upset with his free speech policy. Is the ADL suggesting Twitter was free of anti-semitic content prior to Musk? I would be very surprised if that were the case, just as I am surprised by the sudden love for Jews on the left. It seems more likely the ADL didn’t care about hatred of Jews because the old Dorsey Twitter was used by the government to control and censor any speech contrary to the DNC/WH/Progressive talking points. Now that Musk won’t go along, suddenly he is fomenting anti-semitism.

One of the rare times I agreed with fmr ADL head Abe Foxman was when he said the worst thing to do is censor “hate speech”. The best way to deal with it is to CHALLENGE hate speech with MORE speech. If “Ye’s” remarks are so wrong and hurtful take him to task and explain why instead of taking the easy, cowardly way out. Ye seems to have an affinity with the Black so called Hebrew Israelites, but the ADL isn’t doing me any favors.
The remedy for speech you don’t like is more speech.
