5 Takeaways From the Pennsylvania Senate Debate
NYT via msn ^ | Oct 25, 2022 | Katie Glueck and Trip Gabriel

Posted on 10/26/2022 4:33:10 AM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Mehmet Oz, the celebrity television doctor, collided Tuesday in one of the most closely watched debates of the midterm campaign. The Pennsylvania Senate matchup was both highly personal and unusual, as viewers watched Mr. Fetterman, a Democrat, rely on closed captioning to accommodate for the lingering effects of a stroke he had in May.

Mr. Fetterman set out to show Pennsylvania voters that he is ready to serve — and to take on a Republican opponent who has recently gained ground in a race that could decide control of the Senate. He repeatedly called the Republican a liar, invoking what he called “the Oz rule — that if he’s on TV, he’s lying.” Dr. Oz didn’t hold back either, casting Mr. Fetterman as “extreme” and accusing him of misrepresenting his positions......

- Fetterman is asking voters to bear with him.

For many voters, the debate was their first extended chance to see what Mr. Fetterman looks and sounds like after his stroke. He could sound halting, sometimes jumbling words, using the wrong one, and occasionally sounding off-key. He opened the evening by saying, “Good night.”

- Swing-state Republicans are still struggling with abortion questions.

- Oz pins Fetterman to his progressive past.

- Both men use relatability and real estate as cudgels.

- Both men largely stood by their party leaders.

If Fetterman wins the election, I would think that everyone in America would recognize that the elections are completely rigged.

GOOD NIGHT NYT!

The Fracking LIES that Fetterman spewed, while confronted with his own words, were priceless.

Other reports from more reliable sources (The Daily Mail) state that the Democrat went full Biden and his mental damage was unquestionably obvious. He was incapable of discussing any topic of substance.

Yeah, I believe the DM before the NYT.

They do their very best to make abortion a top issue, but it isn’t.

I wouldn’t think that.

Do you ever go out and interact with people from “dumps”?
Many people will vote “D” no matter what.
What percent of Democrat voters watched the debate?

Somehow I don’t DeQuarious Jenkins watching it in Philly.
I don’t see Merle watching it in the bar while drinking his crappy life away.

I wouldn’t be surprised now if either won.

Oz’s answer was perfect on abortion. HE stated, over and over, that abortion issues should be left to the State (as the SC ruled). They tried 3 times to rope him into Roe v. Wade, and he went back to the States Rights, which it is.

Democrats in PA will largely tap the Democratic button when they vote. Republicans should turn out to vote for their own party and unite behind Oz.

Even Joe Scarborough couldn’t help but tell the truth:

Joe Scarborough
@JoeNBC
John Fetterman’s ability to communicate is seriously impaired. Pennsylvania voters will be talking about this obvious fact even if many in the media will not.

Even more telling than Fetterman getting caught lying about his past positions on fracking, was the very fact that the two were fighting over who was the most pro-fracking and pro energy independence.

Everyone knows that’s a huge win for Republicans.
Everyone knows the Democrats want to end all US production of petroleum based energy.

That right there was the end of Fetterman’s campaign but more than that, it blew a giant hole in the Democrat’s climate change narrative.

That debate is a debacle for Fetterman. He cannot form sentences...and the NY Times is going to spin it for the DNC. Don’t waste the eyesight.

We all seem to forget that Congress is about party and numbers, usually individuals mean nothing. What I mean is that the party with the most members seated control everything. So Fetterman could be in a coma but if he is elected the party is pleased as it adds one number to their side.

Seniority is the currency of Congress, the most senior are the ones that direct and control things. Freshman Congress members are powerless (except as attack dogs).

So Fetterman as a Democrat will get the votes from Democrats.

I would not be so fast to count Fetterman out. As a senator, he one REAL job is to VOTE. That is all that matters. He does not have to be a silver tongued orator or even very smart. As long as he votes for The Agenda.

The Dems and their voters know this.

You will also, no doubt, have a sliver of the population (mainly women) who feel sorry for him.

Did Fetterman ever say what that bulge on his neck is? I mean, it’s obvious that’s the reason he wears hoodies all the time.

” Freshman Congress members are powerless (except as attack dogs).”

Not necessarily, in a 50/50 senate freshman members have real power by bucking the party line to get concessions. Unfortunately the dems have Mittens and Murkowski on their side.
