An electric vehicle fire led to a temporary closure of a highway west of Vermillion, South Dakota, last week. The EV’s battery burst into fire, turning the car into an unrecognizable mess after the blaze was eventually put out.
KELOLAND News, and news media outlet based in Sioux Falls, SD, reported:
The Vermillion Fire EMS Department says it happened on Highway 50 near the Business Route exit just after 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Crews arriving on scene found a small car on fire with flames spreading into the ditch.
Because flames had reached the cars high-voltage battery, firefighters secured the area to wait for the battery to cool. Highway 50 eastbound to the Business route was closed for around an hour and a half. The cause is under investigation.

Insurance rates for these are going to start to go through the roof.
And then people will stop buying them (as they did other cars with eventual problems).
And then the environmentalist nuts will get even MORE upset.
But by then we’ll be past the 12 years they said we had to live so we can laugh at them further.

The article described it as a small car. They didn’t mention the make or model. However, they did say this:
“In September, Breitbart News reported that another Tesla caused major issues after catching fire…”
So maybe it was a Tesla, maybe it wasn’t. I’d like to know what kind of EV it was.
Just like articles about Amish perps, certain identification information must be suppressed.
Is that a Tesla wheel?
Auto owner’s loss is modern sculpture’s gain.
Kinda looks like the Batmobile from the first Michael Keaton Batman movie all covered in ice.
The insurance companies will soon start refusing to insure them at all...................
I’m putting together a solar power system here and I have decided to place the lithium batteries outside and not inside because of the fire risk.
This house has a large outdoor wood furnace that supplies hot water to the house and heated water for the heating system. I don’t use it anymore as it’s too much trouble to deal with feeding the wood into it...
I’m putting the lithium batteries, the switching power supplies that charge the batteries and the big inverters inside the furnace...what safer place in case a fire breaks out.... I will just run 12vdc, 24vdc and 120vac into the house from the furnace.. along with a cat6 UF cable for data and control. I’m going to route the wiring in/out of the furnace through it’s chimney...
A bit unhandy I will admit but if those batteries touch off maybe the house will survive...
If Trump had not been cheated out of office I would not be installing solar.
be prepared
Unrecognizable? I recognize it.
It’s an idiot’s car..............
“Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he’s got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.”
Teslas don’t have a metal roof. Also, if it had been a Tesla you can bet that would have been in the title in huge letters. They are trying to imply it was a Tesla when it really wasn’t.
This was caused by a “controlled” burn that went out-of-control destroying all cars still parked is the adjacent field. Oops!
Who has to pay for the hazardous waste disposal?
Did the White Housewife still make it to Starbucks? Did she still have her smug superiority look on her face?
