I had a lovely ride on Blue today. The weather was magnificent.

Tippy doesn’t seem to mind. She has commandeered Mom’s recliner (and white Faux-Mink throw) and seems happy to just sleep until I get home.

True Change

Read: Ephesians 4:17–24

You were taught . . . to put on the new self. Ephesians 4:22–24

Raised in a turbulent home in South London, Claud started selling marijuana at fifteen and heroin when he was twenty-five. Needing a cover for his activities, he became a mentor to young people. Soon he became intrigued by his manager, a believer in Jesus, and wanted to know more. After attending a course exploring the Christian faith, he “dared” Christ to come into his life. “I felt such a welcoming presence,” he said. “People saw a change in me instantly. I was the happiest drug dealer in the world!”

Jesus didn’t stop there. When Claud weighed up a bag of cocaine the next day, he thought, This is madness. I’m poisoning people! He realized he must stop selling drugs and get a job. With the help of the Holy Spirit, he turned off his phones and never went back.

This kind of change is what the apostle Paul referenced when he wrote to the church at Ephesus. Calling the people not to live separated from God, he urged them to “put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires” and instead to “put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22, 24). The verb form Paul used implies that we’re to put on the new self regularly.

As with Claud, the Holy Spirit delights to help us to live out of our new selves and become more like Jesus. — Amy Boucher Pye

What examples can you bring to mind of how God changes people, including you? How do these stories build your faith in Him, even when change seems impossible?

Loving God, thank You that You don’t give up on people. Show me how I can become more like You.

Hey there, Kathy.

Yep, da feetsies are up and they’re yammerin’. LOL We had a lot of visitors today but they just wanted to wander through on their own. So what we all did was give each couple/group a little while to wander, then one of us would get up to check on them to see if they had any questions. Then another would get up to check on the next group. They usually had questions and would keep us with them from that point on. So we basically did semi-tours today. We all still had fun though.

Sad to think there are only three more weekends left before we close for winter. :-(

Having a good weekend so far? Did it get as toasty as they predicted it would today? It didn’t get quite as warm as they said it would here but it felt good enough. Clouds moved through and it’s a shame they didn’t have rain with them. The air’s so filthy with dust and now smoke from wildfires in AL and GA. GACK!

It was nearly as hot as predicted, but still comfy enough not to have either air or heat on. Nice day all around. Supposed to cool way down on Monday or so. I’m ready!

Sorry you’re having to deal with wildfire smoke. Gack is right. Not to mention how sad that they are having the fires. Hope you had a fun weekend, too!

I’m so glad the week is over FOR SURE! My boss dropped off a work laptop today, but the power supply doesn’t fix the laptop. So I will go in tomorrow and hope to find a power supply that will work. All mine have a round connection. This laptop has what looks like a USB port. I REALLY DO NOT want to go into the office on Monday to work, but with no connection at home I have no choice. I would love to say, “I can’t work today because I don’t have the necessary tools to do my job”. Technically I would be right, but the only one hurt is me.
