The senior economist who earned the nickname “Dr. Doom” after correctly predicting the 2008 financial crisis has ridiculed transplanted New Yorkers for “stupidly” relocating to Sun Belt states during the pandemic.
Nouriel Roubini, the New York University economics professor and the CEO of the consultancy firm Roubini Macro Associates, thinks those who fled the Big Apple for Florida or Texas would have been wiser to instead relocate to the Midwest.
“A lot of real estate is going to be stranded because of global climate change,” Roubini told the “Odd Lots” podcast on Bloomberg. “People have stupidly moved from New York to Miami, and from San Francisco to Austin, but Florida is going to be flooded and Texas is going to be too hot to survive there.”

He’s completely right. Those are the scientific facts. I recommend these people move back. By the way, Pennsylvania is in serious condition from climate change. Anyone believing the science should move north to New York to avoid catastrophe.
When you fill a cup, it starts filling up from the bottom. hence, the seas will rise in South America first and move on up the Southern States (Florida and Texas) (the middle of the cup) and way up there at the top is New York, completely safe from rising floods. See, it’s science. Just like Dr. Fauci has told us, Science!.
After Hurricane Ian, there were quite a few who have no beachfront property (except the waterlogged ground itself) left to sell.
If you read about the time line and rate of sea level rise being attributed to climate change, you will soon realize that you, your children, and your grand children are likely to be dead and gone before it becomes anything like a real estate “stranding” problem.
