Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Thursday denied a request by a Wisconsin taxpayers group to halt the implementation of President Joe Biden’s federal student loan forgiveness program.
Barrett, who is responsible for emergency applications from Wisconsin, rejected the Brown County Taxpayers Association request to block the program just days after the Biden administration began accepting applications from borrowers to have as much as $20,000 in student debt canceled.
The emergency application was filed Wednesday.
Barrett appeared to act on her own without referring the matter to the other justices. She did not provide an explanation for rejecting the emergency request, which is not uncommon.
The taxpayers group had argued in a 29-page filing to the Supreme Court that Biden’s program would cost taxpayers more than $1 trillion and that it bypasses Congress, which oversees federal spending.

Bill Barr's Bullsh!ter Song and Dance Academy.
It didn’t take her long to fall in line.
A “RINO” that gave us Dobbs and Bruen. Lol!
Do you understand what an emergency petition is and why they are often rejected? This isn’t a decision on the merits at all.
This is as simple as this organization almost certainly doesn’t have standing.
So..hoping that she sees other lawsuits to the Biden loan forgiveness as better to block it.
With constitutional conservatives like Amy, who needs leftist liberal justices? Mandatory covid jabs for little kids without their parent’s permission anyone?
I don’t think a refusal to block a student loan program is tantamount to a total betrayal, and it’s not like there will be only one legal challenge to Biden’s student loan bailout. More will follow, and maybe one of those will get an audience with the nine jurists to decide its legality.
The problem is congress, not the supreme court. She is telling us there is a better way as designed by our Founding Fathers.
Standing will not be earned until harm occurs and that will be when the relief is granted. Then it will be too late.
THIS PARTICULAR CASE was denied - for what are probably valid reasons. Other cases are in the courts and more likely to win. At least one of t hose is likely to make it to the Supreme Court. We want the strongest case brought before them, not the weakest.
“The Brown County Taxpayers Association urged the court on Wednesday to block President Joe Biden’s national debt cancellation plan...A U.S. district judge in Wisconsin had previously ruled that the legal challenge lacked standing....
Republican-led states and business groups have filed lawsuits against the $400 billion loan forgiveness plan...
Other challenges to the program are expected to make their way to the Supreme Court.”
Her initials ACB stand for Always Coddling Biden. If always said...beware of women with hyphenated last names.
1. Standing is an Article III requirement.
2. There are ways to establish standing here to get an injunction.
3. Taxpayer associations won’t cut it.
Since when does the supreme court overrule the US Constitution?
So many knee jerk reactions because we don’t like the ruling. Understand that following the law and precedent often cuts both ways.
Looks like an ignorant knee jerk reaction to me.
Brilliant!!! Yes, let's jump on the blame Trump bandwagon! /s It's raining here this morning and I am pretty sure it's president Trump's fault.
I believe there are a total of five of these suits filed from around the states.
However, if they are all denied, or slowly acted upon, you will see inflation LEAP again as they drain a Trillion out of the coffers overnight.
Stay tuned! As usual, a Socialist Democrat Vote-Buying Scheme will have consequences - just not the ones Dems though they would have. ;)
The trailer park crowd only cares about the immediate results, just like the socialists on the left.
The low IQ dumbs can’t understand why they are stuck turning wrenches instead of arguing in court.
If anything, I would think a stronger case could be made on behalf of borrowers who DID pay their student loans off.
