God Spoke
Read: Genesis 1:1–4

God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3

In 1876, inventor Alexander Graham Bell spoke the very first words on a telephone. He called his assistant, Thomas Watson, saying, “Watson, come here. I want to see you.” Crackly and indistinct, but intelligible, Watson heard what Bell had said. The first words spoken by Bell over a phone line proved that a new day for human communication had dawned.

Establishing the dawn of the first day into the “formless and empty” earth (Genesis 1:2), God spoke His first words recorded in Scripture: “Let there be light” (v. 3). These words were filled with creative power. He spoke, and what He declared came into existence (Psalm 33:6, 9). God said, “let there be light” and so it was. His words produced immediate victory as darkness and chaos gave way to the brilliance of light and order. Light was God’s answer to the dominance of darkness. And when He had created the light, He saw that it “was good” (Genesis 1:4).

God’s first words continue to be powerful in the lives of believers in Jesus. With the dawning of each new day, it’s as if God is restating His spoken words in our lives. When darkness—literally and metaphorically—gives way to the brilliance of His light, may we praise Him and acknowledge that He’s called out to us and truly sees us.Marvin Williams

When dawn breaks through the darkness, how will you celebrate God’s love and faithfulness? How has God’s light opened your eyes to see Him?

Creator of Light, I praise You for dispelling the darkness of this world—opening my eyes to You and Your presence in my life.

Bible in a year: Isaiah 50–52; 1 Thessalonians 5

It was an absolutely MAGNIFICENT day. After walking Tippy, I hopped onto Blue and rode southwest to a big antiques mall with lots of vendors. I got a few items that fit nicely in my saddlebag, along with a hoodie that I had worn under my leather jacket. I had to peel it off because it was so HOT today...in the 70’s.

Then I went to a nice little Thai restaurant and had some spicy soup, hot sake, and Pad Thai.

Dropped in on Sis and watched some Eric Clapton Videos.

Went home, walked the dog, visited my other sister who was babysitting for her 4-month old granddaughter. Tippy was very curious about this little human, and baby was fascinated with Tippy.

Walked home, showered, washed my hair, gave myself a facial, and FReeped.

Life begins at 70, so I’ll start REALLY living tomorrow! LOL!

Howdy, Kathy.

Yes, I saw that it rained overnight at the airport and was very foggy along the mountains this morning. I just couldn't tell if it was only in the mountains or was down in town as well. The peaks came into view eventually but the thick fog bank hugged alongside them for quite a while.

No fog at the airport but the ceiling was very low for a long time. Fortunately it lifted by the time one of the Dreamlifters took off and the cam op was able to follow it quite a ways as it headed towards Japan. That cam has a killer zoom.

Did sunshine hit your neighborhood when the clouds finally broke up a little bit?

No rain here though there was a little scattered around with the cold front moving through. It was overcast but comfortable today in the low 70s. We'll have 70s again next weekend but have a few days of December to get through first. brrrrrr

Oh boy...you got to see one of your BIG planes.

Sun for maybe an hour and back to rain and low ceiling. Blue sky is trying to make an appearance all around.
