John Fetterman Is a Disabled American Who Needs Technology to Do His Job. So What?
New York Times ^ | Oct. 13, 2022 | David M. Perry

Posted on 10/13/2022 5:06:51 PM PDT by conservative98

This week, John Fetterman, the Democratic for the Senate from Pennsylvania, appeared in what NBC News billed as his first on-camera, one-on-one interview since he had a stroke in May. The interview went well and was conducted with Mr. Fetterman and the reporter, Dasha Burns, sitting in the same room, as Mr. Fetterman used a captioning system on a computer screen to assist him with his auditory-processing, something he has needed help with since the stroke.

Ms. Burns introduced the interview to the news anchor Lester Holt by saying, “In small talk before the interview without captioning, it wasn’t clear he was understanding our conversation.” With that one statement, Ms. Burns shifted the conversation away from a necessary adaptation to implying that NBC was doing Mr. Fetterman a favor by using captioning and that it was a problem for the candidate that he needed technology to reliably converse.

Her comment suggests that certain kinds of accommodation are illegitimate. Would Ms. Burns have made a similar remark if a wheelchair user couldn’t get around without a wheelchair? Are you wearing contacts or glasses to read this essay? It is our accommodations, often but not exclusively technological in nature, that make it possible for many of us to do our jobs. This is no less true for politicians than it is for the rest of us.

I’ve had active symptoms of mental illness since I was 9. Last March, at age 48, I finally convinced myself it was OK to ask for a reasonable accommodation at work. Now I can do my job better with more flexibility around when I physically come into my office. And I can read this essay because I put on my glasses. Just as John Fetterman can be a senator if he has access to captioning.

And Joetato is a pudding-brained mush mouth. It certainly didn’t stop the dims from voting for him.

This is an absurd position and were it a ‘Republican’ the author wouldn’t be taking it - Pure nonsense. The only truth in his screed is the part about his own mental illness.

I’ve been expecting the disabled card to be played before now. Sorry, it’s nonsense in this situation. They’re trying to make it seem as if Fetterman’s just hard of hearing or something, whereas the reality is that his brain is damaged to the point where he has trouble processing information.

Sounds like the Times is his campaign manager. Perhaps they want to debate Oz on his behalf since he is disabled.

That’s the mentality that gave us a walking corpse in the White Hut.

What Job? He’s never had a real job. When he is employed by government he doesn’t show up for work most of the time. All of that was before he had his stroke. His current job supposedly is Lt. Governor, but do you see him do that? He’s not a Senator from Pennsylvania and he won’t be. The New York Slime can shove that up their …

I’m hearing rumors that the Fetterman campaign has contacted the ‘Make a Wish foundation to see if they can help out this disabled candidate to make his wish come true.

What do you want to bet Perry called for Trump’s removal using the 25th amendment

Diversity is important!

We need IQ diversity among those deciding our fate.

Vote for those striving every day for mediocrity!

SO... Reading an instant teleprompter that is controlled by another person is the same as a wheel chair? I don’t think so.

And the NYT... They hammered Trump when he walked slowly down a metal walk way. AND I seem to recall NYT constantly demanding Trump be removed via the 25th amendment.

In other words, they NYT is a disgusting lying organization.

Not even close!

Fetterman’s biggest handicap is that, he’s not an accomplished politician and hasn’t had any accomplishments in government to speak of.

Thus, he’s handicapped in the area that matters the most, namely, lack of accomplishments,. That he’s got mental issues (regardless of cause), just makes things a lot worse.

A handicap in the mind is a lot worse than a physical handicap, but, we can give a pass to the physically handicapped, but not to someone that will be making life and death decisions that affect millions.

I have personal experience with this situation. I terminated an employee who had had a stroke. Someone I really cared about. Declining cognitive function. It took me a year to finally do it. In the meantime, I was spending most of my time doing her job and mine, cleaning up her mistakes, and making myself sick with worry that I would miss something critical that she’d goofed. It was heartbreaking, and ultimately I had to consider not just her, but everyone else who was impacted by her inability to do her job.

The people who commission, write, and publicize stories like this don't care that Fetterman is brain damaged.

They don't care that he was a trust fund socialist until his mid-40s.

They don't care that he has been a lawbreaking failure his entire adult life.

They don't care that he dresses like a slob to hide his gigantic bosom, which is probably just extra skin from weight loss, but could also be that planning to become history's most repulsive transvestite.

They don't even care about that gigantic lump on the back of his neck.

These people have no conscience, and they have no morals. They do, however expect that you do, and that you can be swayed to vote for Fetterman by someone uttering the correct heartstring-tugging story, at least long enough to get him elected.

They only care that he represents one more vote for Democrat power, and they will say and do anything to tug at heartstrings, plead, shame, guilt, and scare voters to get him across the finish line.
