Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) says there need to be “major changes” to the Justice Department and FBI, and FISA should be allowed to expire, if Republicans win control of Congress in November.

“I think we should not even reauthorize FISA (The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act), which is going to come in the next Congress,” Rep. Jordan said in a Fox News Channel interview on Sunday. At the very least, Congress needs to change the FISA process, Jordan said.

FISA was intended to facilitate the gathering of foreign, not domestic, intelligence information. But, conservatives have become increasing concerned about abuses of the FISA process to gain authority to spy on Democrats’ political enemies. Among the most egregious abuses were those committed in order to gain permission to spy on Trump. […]

In addition to reforming or eliminating FISA, Congress also needs to examine ways to drastically reform the Justice Department and FBI, Rep. Jordan said in his Sunday interview, when asked about the prospect of impeaching U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

In particular, the FBI’s Washington field office has “way too much power,” which needs to be dispersed, Rep. Jordan said. …

Well JJ, let’s hope the rest of the republicans are able to follow your lead. Dismantling and draining the swamp, as we have seen, is not a job for just one man.

Well that’s great, but spying is just the tip of the iceberg of what the DOJ is up to lately.

They’ve got backups for spying besides FISA now too, of course.

Don’t change them. Eliminate them. The strength of the central government now guarantees that changing things will only result in essentially he same thing we have now only with a slightly different org chart and some new names.

Jordan is bad news, mostly because he has no real power to do anything yet he puts out these tantalizing sound bites. How many other republican House members back this idea? Hmm? Not very many, I’m sure.

Finally, a marker. This is something that a GOP-led House could do. Don't need the executive branch. Don't need the Senate. All a GOP House has to do is block the re-authorization of FISA. Now, if Jordan and the Rs don't do that next year (and I'm betting they don't), the fix will happen in real time for all to see.

Mark this promise down.

Yup...force The Big Guy’s puppet masters to veto the bill. In fact,if the GOP could take both houses that filthy cabal could be forced to veto a lot of bills.

The FBI must be eliminated entirely. Even if it were reformed it would always eventually once again become a political arm of the deep state.

"‘Major Changes’ at FBI, DOJ if GOP Wins Control of Congress"

Unless it includes thousands of FBI and DOJ deepstaters arrested and charged with giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States, there will be no major changes, just more kabuki theater.

Is Jim Jordan going to run for Speaker of the House; or is he going to vote for Kevin McCarthy to be Speaker, with “business as usual”.

Actions speak louder than words.
