Is OPEC ‘aligning with Russia’ after production cuts?
Al Jazeera ^ | 7 October 2021 | Federica Marsi

Posted on 10/08/2022 4:11:56 PM PDT by Red6

A decision by the OPEC+ alliance of oil-exporting countries to sharply cut production and boost crude prices has dealt a blow to consuming nations, prompting accusations that Gulf producers are siding with Russia at the expense of the United States and its Western allies.

Obviously we're winning in all fronts!

So now you have the gas pipeline to Europe getting throttled and major cuts in oil production heading out way. Hahaha

Maybe they’re acting in their own self interests.
Imagine that.

I doubt it has anything to do with alignment. It’s economics. Dollar is very strong and oil is mostly paid for in dollars. Worldwide economic slowdown seems likely and OPEC wants the same cash flow so they need to cut production commensurate with decrease in demand to keep the price stable. Also, they see weak leaders everywhere. Putin looks weak. Biden looks weak. France, Germany and the UK look weak. They don’t feel any pressure.

And of course, most of the major OPEC players don’t like that the west is negotiating with Iran again.

Given that’s it’s a choice between Biden and Russia, sounds like an easy decision.

Biden told the world that Saudi Arabia needs to be made pariahs and at the same time, is bound and determined to get a nuclear deal with terrorist Iran, the Saudi's arch-enemy.

A day after Biden's (totally scripted) hot mic "Nobody f**ks with a Biden" moment, OPEC+ throttles production.

This administration is like a Leslie Nielsen movie, minus the laughs.

Saudi is aligned with Russia, they recently recognized the Ruble and more so they are buying huge quantities of Russian gold at a discount, paid for in Rubles.

Imagine that.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

And the enemy of OPEC is Biden, who has repeatedly shown signs of weakness - compounded by his dementia.

Exactly. Too bad they don’t seem to care. Still forging ahead as if 85% of the world didn’t find us to be extremely distasteful.

Here is a clue. You went after Russia and it backfired.
Maybe the playground bully is unaware, but many of us in America are not.

Maybe more of a hedge than an alignment. Who knows what will happen vis a vis the BRICS banking and currency, and why would Saudis or Russians be trading oil with each other? Saudis may also take some in Chinese Yuan soon too. I’d have to look it up but I’m pretty confident most Saudi oil is paid for in greenbacks.

It was a response to our trying to cap prices other countries could pay for Russian oil. A very effective response, and I am sure they laughed at our admin freaking out over it.

Yep. The Saudis are annoyed with Biden. They know that the Americans are fickle. So they are just riding this wave and waiting for the next President who's more "reasonable". They didn't have any problems with Trump, from what I remember.
