BERLIN (Reuters) -Attackers cut cables vital for the rail network in two places causing a near three-hour halt to all rail traffic in northern Germany on Saturday morning, in what authorities called an act of sabotage without identifying who might be responsible.
The federal police has launched an investigation into the incident, Transport Minister Volker Wissing told a news conference. "It is clear that this was a targeted and malicious action," he said.
The disruption immediately raised alarm bells after NATO and the European Union last month stressed the need to protect critical infrastructure after what they called acts of "sabotage" on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
"We can't say much at the moment, it is too early," said a security source who declined to be named. The source said an intensive investigation into the incident had begun and a there were a variety of possible reasons for it, ranging from simple cable theft - which was frequent at the moment - to a targeted attack.

Western disinfo has been crowing about noble acts of sabotage in Russia for months. Anyone who knows the NATO war plans in Europe knows that the entire highway and rail network, when built or rebuilt from the 40s on, was designed to quickly move NATO prepositioned (primarily armor) assets east to the immediate war fighting front. I assume the Russians understand this. I posed the question on a thread yesterday asking if we’ve been tracking any movement of these armaments? Most likely they were moved to their “fail safe” positions on the Polish frontier back in the spring. Is the 82nd or 101st currently deployed in Poland? It’s like being in cataclysmic auto wreck, watching it unfold in slow motion, waiting for impact.

No, the Biden admin probably found out that Germany was still going to be able to get gas thru that pipeline, though not as much as before.
I have heard that one of Putin's strategies could be to hold on, tough it out, be strong but not respond to provocations, and bore everyone to death with a slow grinding attrition war. The problem for the war mongers is that they proclaimed they were leading the coalition of the willing to uphold civilization and democracy. As it more and more looks to the world like they are the force for instability, deterioration and global looting for the wealthy - that coalition is fraying and countries are moving either to neutral or to the other side.
Coalitions doen't hold together when they have served their purpose - which shows that NATO and the EU are not coalitions but organs of empire who use force to punish defectors.
I’m pretty sure a company or two from the 82nd is, but not a full battalion. My SIL is in the 82nd, and I was concerned he would be deployed when the news broke that “elements” of the 82nd were to be deployed to Poland.
