The only pride in the animal kingdom of which I am aware is a pride of lions, a grouping of a dominant male and a number of females which the male will defend in a vicious manner, even to the occasional killing of offspring. they figured out looong ago that most people don’t want to volunteer to be on boards.

And yet.. these boards have VAST power.

so... they simply agree to serve on the boards. Once they have the majority, they reveal their real intent. But then it’s too late to take back power.

They started with the American Psychological Association - Once they had the majority, they simply declared themselves (gays) sane, and PRESTO! Homosexuality was no longer a mental disorder!
