The White House on Wednesday admonished what it called a “shortsighted decision” by OPEC and its allies to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day, a move that could lead to a rise in gas prices domestically.
National security adviser Jake Sullivan and top economic adviser Brian Deese issued a statement that took issue with the decision, citing ongoing concerns about the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“At a time when maintaining a global supply of energy is of paramount importance, this decision will have the most negative impact on lower- and middle-income countries that are already reeling from elevated energy prices,” Sullivan and Deese said in a joint statement, adding that President Biden was “disappointed” by the decision.

A real President would increase American production by 2 million per day.
I’ll keep in mind you’re disappointed when I’m paying to fill up my 500 gallon tank in Nov.
WTF are you talking about?
Global oil demand has only gone down two years out of the last 20+ years. In 2009 because of the Great Recession and in 2020 because of the covid pandemic.

As countries like India become more developed, the demand for oil will steadily increase.
Not by choice.
Welcome to FR.
He’s pissed they didn’t wait until after the election.
“This is actually a stupid move for opec. The world is getting away from oil and reducing oil consumption. Eventually the demand for oil will be quite low. Right now is when they should be increasing production in order to get as much out of it as possible. Hopefully someday they will have huge reserves that nobody wants”.
You need a reality check.
Unfortunately, it’s us that will pay at the pump for this incompetent administration and OPEC’s decisions.
.
Well, Sleepy Joe was the stupidest man in the United States Senate...
Maybe he will require every illegal to bring a barrel of oil with them?
Highlights:
Renewables to make up 27% of 2050 global energy mix
Global ICE vehicle fleet to peak in 2038 with rise of EVs
Oil, gas output to grow through 2050 on Asian demand
OPEC and the ARABS just gave him the BIG GREEN WEENY right up his A$$!
This is actually a stupid move for opec. The world is getting away from oil and reducing oil consumption.
Absolutely NOT True.
There are 5 billion people in 3rd world Africa and Asia who dream of achieving living standards a fraction of those in EU / North America. They are not going to jump from riding bikes and cooking with dung, to EV's and solar panels. That's pure green fantasy and BS put out by people like UN IPCC and John Kerry.
Unfortunately it doesn’t start until November. So elections want to be affected. Many states already mailed out absentee ballots. I got mine from Florida already. Early voting starts next week in most states. The only ones left to vote are Republicans who vote in person who won’t vote Democratic anyway. Not that I want people hurt but it would’ve been nice to start today.
“He’s pissed they didn’t wait until after the election”.
You get it. +1
