Expert argues THIS is how the war could end
Putin has spent the last week ramping up his war in Ukraine, from 300,000 conscripts to nuclear threats But his bluster is aimed at hiding the fact that Russia is losing the war, as Ukraine recaptures territory
Alp Sevimlisoy, of Atlantic Council think-tank == about what Russian defeat could look like Putin would not survive the defeat, he argues, while Russia itself could break up leaving the West competing with China over the spoils and NATO in a face-off with Beijing
Land grabs, hundreds of thousand of conscripts thrown on to the front lines, and a nuke for anyone who dares stand in his way: Vladimir Putin has spent the past week doubling down on his war in Ukraine.
But his bluster belies a simple fact: Russia is losing the war, and he knows it.
The despot is desperate. His army is in tatters, his battleplans shot, he's burning through his cash reserves at an unsustainable rate, and winter is looming. Meanwhile Ukraine's army continues to advance across the country, giving Kyiv a viable path to victory.
According to Alp Sevimlisoy - millennium fellow at think-tank Atlantic Council - that would mean Putin being deposed, Russia itself breaking apart, and NATO in a face-off with China over the spoils.
The West must begin preparing for that eventuality now, he adds, otherwise it will open the door for Beijing to muscle into regions such as Siberia, central Asia, Africa and South America where it already has toe-holds but will see opportunities as Russian power fades.
'We have to move into vacuums, seek to exert influence, and then we have to face up to the People's Republic of China. China is a globally-connected superpower, and we have to combat them effectively,' he said.

Umm, we have a one party tyrannical techno-state right here in the USA. Look inwards, things are not well.
On the other hand, Putin could resist being killed and launch nuclear weapons against NATO. Rumor has it that he is terminally ill, so he might just ‘push the buttons’ on the way out.
To what specific decision are you referring? A decision to do...what?
Russia is being destroyed by the sanctions that essentially eliminate economic activity adequate to support the populations in Moscow and St Petersburg.
From what I have seen, both the pro-Russian crowd and Russia itself are insisting that the sanctions have actually made Russia stronger. Not that I buy that, but that's at least what they're claiming.
There is agreement that an end to Russia is required and the problem be eliminated for the foreseeable future.
I don't know what you mean by "an end to Russia", but regardless of what happens in this war, Russia itself is a country with a very long history and isn't going to fall apart into a gaggle of tiny republics. Maybe Chechnya takes the opportunity to break away, but it won't go much beyond that.
In terms of conventional military power, Russia has been massively exposed. This is becoming basically the 21st century version of the Russo-Japanese war. Ukraine may push for some kind of reparations if they continue to have this level of success, but that is extraordinarily unlikely to happen, and the rest of the West would not push it. That would be making the same mistake the Allies made at the Versailles.
If this war ends in the restoration of Ukraine's pre-war borders, that will be counted as a huge victory, and the West will want to transition as quickly as possible to de-escalation and stabilization. If Ukraine tries to push for more, the West will simply withhold the critical economic aid that Ukraine will need to survive in the short term.
We have been so good at regime change throughout the last few decades, haven’t we?
The Daily Fail
The RAT Party was pretty good at regime change in the 2020 election.
Just imagine importing that kind of democracy world wide? LOL
Oh that’s right, we already are in any way possible.
Yes, DM tiddies and pert bums.
Like someone said, lots of different cultures in Russia. In fact, Russia has the largest Muslim population in Europe, 14 million or roughly 10% of the total population.
With over 6,000 nukes, maybe some of those will find a way to some Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden wannabe if Putin is taken out.
Under the bus goes Putin...
Iran has declared that it does not recognize the so-called “referendums” organized by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, reports the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kanaani — IRNA.

My take, is that whoever comes after Putin will end this stupid war. Putin’s war will be ended even if a Rus hard liner takes over. This is Putin’s war and nobody elses.
Yep. Putin and his vanity war have been bad for Russian oligarch’s business. He’ll go. Soon.
What’s policies? I’ve seen more KGB-style crap in this country against Trump and his supporters than I heard of in Russia.
Russia collapsed twice in the 20th century. It doesn’t take great intelligence to realize it will collapse again. Russia is a corrupt and fake country seeing its chickens come home to roost.
