You are misled to think a 90-day stopgap measure calling up reserves while Russia redeploys Regular Army combat forces from other areas. The 100K from Belarus is part of the stopgap, allowing Russian combat forces to train and then rotate into combat in Ukraine.

NATO needs to issue the following statement:

Russia’s “Special Military Operation” to “De-Nazify Ukraine” has not succeeded. NATO will assist. Armed forces of NATO will be occupying Western, Northern and Central Ukraine with the goal of apprehending any Nazis present. To protect against possible Nazi counterattack, these forces will be accompanied by appropriate counter battery and anti-air capabilities. AWACS coverage will also be present to monitor possible Nazi counterattacks. The Ukrainian Army will be driven from western, northern and central Ukraine into the eastern and southern parts of the country. Any attempts to attack NATO forces will be presumed to be of Nazi origin and swiftly dealt with.

Gee, if Russia is doing so badly, why was it able to annex 40,000 square miles of new territory? And, things are going to get worse.

Why would Putin need to do that? Is everything not going according to Putin's Cunning Plan™? I

Cunning plan? The Russians came to us in December to try to prevent this war. All they wanted was a promise Ukraine would remain neutral and the Minsk Accords, which Ukraine signed off and would have protected ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine, implemented. That you don't know shows how little you know about the cause of the war.

But, to answer your question -- the war on the ground has mostly been fought by militias of LPR and DPR, Chechens and the Wagner group. Russia has only used 10% of its military on the ground.

Now, however, that the annexed areas are Russian territory, the Russian military will defend it as Russian territory. And, that means the full force of the Russian military will involved.

Ukraine has no chance whatsoever. It tried an offensive in Kherson where the Russian military was and was slaughtered. Ukraine's only "successful" offensive have been in areas the Russians pulled out of.

Aside from everything else, Slojo (Biden) actually said he was going to do something like that on a television interview. Perpetrator needed three things in quantity sufficient:

1. technology
2. motive
3, stupidity

Other national leaders might have the tech and the motivation, but Biden is the only guy stupid enough...

Before February 24 you repeatedly said that Russia would not invade Ukraine.

Since February 24 you have repeatedly said that Ukraine will lose, Putin is about to take the gloves off yada, yada.

At another post it was stated that Germany has a contract with Gazporm to buy a specific ammount of gas until 2030. Further that they are required to pay for it whether or not Gazprom actually supplies it. This would be an interesting legal case. Gasprom’s case is strengthened if the west destroyed the gas pipeline or Russia can “prove” the West destroyed the pipeline. On the other hand Gazprom’s case would be weaker if Russia turned off the pipeline. Then again if Russia destroyed the pipeline but is never caught that could play well financially for Gazprom.

“All they wanted was a promise Ukraine would remain neutral and the Minsk Accords, which Ukraine signed off and would have protected ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine, implemented.”

Nice selective editing.

In early 2021 the DNR, operating out of Donetsk from the same building as the FSB, published an annual report confirming that the genocide was over, the armistice was largely holding, and Zelenskyy had made progress on Minsk. You still haven’t acknowledged that ombudsman-dnr.ru did indeed publish those conclusions and the only source to contradict it is the word of a proven serial liar called Denis Pushilin.

In the fall of 2021 NATO held a press conference confirming that Ukraine was a “partner” of NATO but didn’t meet “membership criteria”. Ukraine expressed disappointment but by February had conceded - publicly - the NATO “open door” wasn’t open anymore and rvrn if it was, it’s something they should walk through. That’s as clear a commitment to neutrality as was needed by Russia.

The reason Russia still complained was it didn’t want neutrality; it wanted surrender. It wanted to see Ukraine unable to even defend itself with its own resources let alone be defended via security assurances.

Putin doesn’t accept the need for a quid pro quo - Ukraine gave Soviet nukes to Russia in return for meaningful security guarantees. If Putin had been in charge he would’ve demanded the nukes without giving any guarantees.

In addition to all that, Russia insisted NATO withdraw its protection of NATO members in the Baltic because Russia found it intolerable that they couldn’t take an unhindered run at invading Lithuania.

“Many here on FR believe Russia is responsible for taking out the Nord pipeline. “

As the Russian Foreign Minister said, “they’re stupid”.

And even IF it were true, NATO would not attack Russian forces directly. They are in no hurry to be incinerated.

“I will say they (the Russians) do know how to better occupy it once it’s taken...”

That’s because they physically eliminate any and all who would disagree with them. That’s why the former Soviet satellite states of Eastern Europe all wanted to join NATO after the Soviet Union collapsed and dissolved. THEY know what it is like to live under the Russian boot, and they want no part of it.

But, there are pro-Russia FReepers who are all for the Russian boot crushing anyone who disagrees with them, and they applaud it and cheer it on. Those FReepers are no fans of freedom; indeed, they champion oppression and tyranny, as long as they are practiced by THEIR side.

“Then the Russians annex Belarus.”

They pretty much have, anyway. Belarus is a Russian satellite state, and has been for decades.

“Belarus could, like Russia, mobilize its reservists and get to those numbers.”

Yes, but they’d be even less inclined to participate than the Russian call-ups.

Likely that would open the door to Luka getting overthrown, and probably the Russians moving in and annexing Belarus.

“Likely that would open the door to Luka getting overthrown, and probably the Russians moving in and annexing Belarus.”

Kind of like they did in Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968, though neither was officially “annexed,” but the result was pretty much the same.

Yep. the biggest difference is they put in the government THEY want. They would never let an opposition party to actually win (like the US does). And they use the fake news to force the message that everyone is happy with the new government. Much like how the democrats stole 2020 election.
