FEMA is there for this reason.

I saw a pic on twitter this morning
at least one section caved in
Holy cow! That is bad!
“at this point no one has a good estimate.”
I would tend to agree with that.
How would anyone know less than 24 hours since landfall.
Sounds a little irresponsible to me.
Interesting. This is right on the coast. Anymore webcam footage?
A big problem was unreliable forecasts putting land fall all over the place and constantly shifting. Everywhere from Tarpon Springs to Cape Coral. . . . . . .

We have a 2nd house in Cape Coral. We really figured until yesterday that we would have little problem because weather bureau said it would be up in Tampa area. Well, the hurricane came to Cape Coral and decided to stay there all day. Cape Coral is in Lee County. The whole county is without power. I will likely head down there this afternoon from Kentucky with stuff to cover my roof with, gasoline and a couple generators to keep as many refrigerators going as possible in the houses around me. It’s a mess down there right now. I will have to wait for the trees to be cleared before I can get into my neighborhood. I lost two nice trees that I know of so far. It’s still windy and my neighbor hasn’t gotten out much to check out my house, I’m not looking forward to the report. I’ll likely be on the roof tomorrow installing tarps to keep out any more rain. Ulgh!
Thank you
Here’s a public report: a section is out.
The media coverage of the hurricane’s aftermath won’t be official until we are treated to the spectacle of Shep Smith and Geraldo Rivera screaming at each other on the air about people eating each other in the Superdome. :-P
Be careful FRiend, and don’t forget the chainsaws + an extra chain or two.
That boob goobernor in Kaintuck made the same outlandish prediction after they were raked by overnight F4s last December. Total was less than 75.
If you live near the coast with a cat 2 or higher closing in you need to leave regardless, the storm could go anywhere
Anyone who stayed on Sanibel is responsible for himself and the consequences of his own choice.
What I heard him say was he couldn’t give confirmed numbers then he says definitely knows of 100s of fatalities and then turns abandoned says he can’t give a true assessment until they get on scene.
The guy is all over the place.
Was that even the Lee County sheriff?......very unprofessional IMO.
Around and.......not abandoned
CNN will soon have a running deathcount ticker, just like COVID. People dying of natural causes will be in the count, just like COVID. FoxNews will participate as well. I turned on FoxNews at market close yesterday only to hear that eff’n genius, Neil Cavuto, say the hurricane will track directly over Tallahassee. I can’t stand him. I had to immediately turn him off.
I can’t stand CNBC either for financial news. It’s really sad to say, Bloomberg does the best job and it ain’t great.
Standing by to rescue my brother and his wife. They were in Naples when the storm hit. His truck is in a garage, and he does not know if his truck is in one piece.
They were moved from their hotel to a shelter last night because of damage to the hotel.
Hopefully, his truck is one piece to get across alligator alley to Lauderdale. If not, I will load up my jeep and give them a ride home.
Maybe it washed away Pelosi’s new Florida home!
Hurricane rescue isn’t a Constitutional duty of anyone. A free people are supposed to use their own common sense.
