Lisa Murkowski Focuses on Donald Trump in Tied Alaska Senate Race

Pro-impeachment and 21-year incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) embraced another Democrat talking point over the weekend intended to divide the Republican Party from former President Donald Trump.

“I just want to make sure that our party doesn’t become a party of an individual,” she told the Wall Street Journal in an article titled “Lisa Murkowski Bets on Infrastructure to Keep Alaska Senate Seat, Deny Trump Revenge.”

Murkowski’s careful line of attack resembles the establishment media’s public relations campaign to frame Trump as a cult leader. Such claims, amplified by congressional Democrats, are unfounded. But that has not prevented the Republican senator from echoing her Democrat colleagues in Washington, DC.

Tim Murtaugh, Kelly Tshibaka’s adviser, told Breitbart News that Murkowski has bucked the majority Alaskan voters by attacking Trump.

“Alaska voted for Donald Trump by double digits twice because his policies were the best for Alaska. He unleashed the energy industries to create jobs and Alaska helped America achieve energy independence. But Joe Biden has squandered all of that and Lisa Murkowski has enabled him. Lisa Murkowski cares more about pleasing D.C. insiders than she cares about her own constituents,” he said.

Murkowski, who voted to impeach Trump in 2021, has remained on the war path against Trump during her reelection campaign against Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibaka. Polling shows Murkowski and Tshibaka are on equal footing about 50 days from the general election.

“I want him to resign. I want him out,” she stated about Trump in 2021. “He has caused enough damage.”

Similar rhetoric was deployed by Murkowski in September when she claimed January 6 was an “insurrection.” Speaking about how the January 6 protesters should receive just consequences, Murkowski failed to raise concerns that rioters have been held in 23-hour-a-day isolation before their trials begin.

It’s good to see a senator who doesn’t focus on trivial matters like high gas prices, high food prices and generally the economy and open borders
But rather focuses on one individual.
Bravo! she is a fearless woman.

I cannot stand politicians who focus on other people, always negatively of course, rather than their own plans for improving whatever district, state or country they hope to represent. The whole idea of running for public office, in order to be a public servant, is to somehow or other improve the lives of those people who you wish to represent. It isn’t about tearing the other person down. If the other person has done things that specifically hurt the constituency involved, then attack those policies. Lay out why they did not work, and why a continuation or acceleration of those policies will be detrimental to everyone. All of those voting will know exactly who it is that is advocating those policies, and who implemented those policies in the past, if that is the case.

A large part of the reason why there is such a tremendous amount of incivility in our society, which has utterly compromised our ability to have reasonable and rational discussions about honestly felt political or policy differences, is that we are constantly seeing and hearing political advertisements or speeches in which the other person is attacked, not the policies. Rather than pulling the country up by example, they are dragging us down by their actions and attitudes.

She is the poster child of why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed

I disagree.

She was elected by all the power brokers in Alaska, to keep Sarah Palin's endorsed candidate out.

Before the 17th Amendment, it was the power brokers in each state which picked the Senators for that state.

And why, damn near, every politician from the smallest town council - school board - zoning board - city council - county commission - state legislature...and do a complete purge and vetting. For they are the little, small time demons waiting to fill her shoes once she’s finally shown the door. The rot goes all the way down the most local level.

“I just want to make sure that our party doesn’t become a party of an individual,”

Ah, so that’s why Murkowski has no ideas of her own and just does whatever the Democrats tell her to do. She’s joined the collective.

This is fact. In my late 20's I was Finance Director for a small town in NC. Two years was all I could take. Small town city councils and mayors are nothing but dictator want to bes. They lie like hell.

That’s by design, the whole point is to discourage good people from wanting to get involved in politics, especially when they have better options in the private sector.

I really liked the job. We had a 14 million budget at the time and I loved making the budgets every year. They just didn’t like my austerity measures (ie cutting spending.)

“I believe Murkowski is GOING DOWN!”

I think it’s likely. My worry is the 15 day thing (or whatever it is) after election day when people can mail in their ballots, and then the final reveal by the officials.

But the fact that the vote is literally tied (Murkowski like two or three votes ahead) at this point means that in reality Tshibaka is actually ahead.

We’ll see. But fingers crossed. She’s a vile and insidious oligarch.
