Ukraine’s Armed Forces general staff has claimed some Russian conscripts from the Kremlin’s mass mobilisation are being sent directly to the frontlines in Ukraine without training.
Amid warnings from the UK’s Ministry of Defence and other experts that many of those conscripted were likely to get little meaningful training – and faced the risk of “high rates of attrition” when deployed – men recently mobilised by pro-Russian occupation officials in Ukraine were also being readied for the frontline.
Those included newly drafted personnel in Crimea as well as conscripts in the Luhansk region who have received draft summonses in recent days.
The latest moves came as it was reported that Russia has also closed its border to occupied areas of Ukraine with the neighbouring Rostov region for entry and exit ordering locals to appear at military enlistment offices within three days
The first wave of Russian conscripts have begun arriving for training in Russia amid widespread scepticism among outside western analysts over what impact the call up was likely to have on Russian capabilities in Ukraine.

One of my friends got mobilized recently. He’s a mobile gamedev and a conscientious objector. So he tried to flee his city (Petrozavodsk) and drove to the nearest border (of Kazakhstan) but the seemingly endless traffic jam made him return in despair.
That’s how they caught him and transported to the nearest voenkomat. He couldn’t believe his eyes. There was a WW2 veteran standing in line as a volunteer. Soldiers were given out vatniks sheathed in camo print. Boots with so many holes that they looked like crocs and kits with personal hygiene items that included condoms. Yes, condoms. A Russian analogue of Durex - Gusarskiye so naturally they were also peppered w/ holes - a point of hearty laughter of everyone involved
They were to be transported in cargo section of soviet plane to Ukraine.
They were allowed to “relax” for a few hours before that - i.e get drunk/high out of their minds and listen to the instructions of the Politruk who riled them up by talking about beauty of the Ukrainian woman and prosperity of the average household.
The tattered drunks of all ages were all ears. “Listen up, scum. You’re about to fly first class to a western democracy. So do what you do best: destroy their livelihoods and make them pay for being better than us. We will defile their land because we can. First and foremost, we are Eurasianists. We’ve learned from the best: Mongols, fascists and communists. You don’t need any training - it’s in your blood. No need for fancy gear either. The strongest will survive and bring his enemies to heel” as my friend later recalled speech.
So obviously he was looking for a way to escape this. He stood up and said “I’m gay”. A crazed mob jumped him and beat him bloody. But he smiled the whole time, ignoring broken ribs and bruises. Nevertheless he persisted. He’s going to prison for life for his orientation instead.

While (free and democratic) Europe has no access to Russian Media due to censorship, (non-democratic) Russians have access to all media, including Western media.
Thus the hope is that Russians read these propaganda stories, which are intended to keep Russians from following their mobilization orders.

No need to wait. There has always been plenty of lonely and bitter women in Russia looking for foreign men.
If they are mobilizing former troops, these guys need orientation—not recruit training. I doubt they are on any front lines within a week—but their ramp up time should be short.

They will wish they had enough training to be classified as high as cannon fodder. As it is, they are dead men walking. But hey, the officers and NCOs can still under report their deaths and still draw the dead men’s pay.
I have several contacts in Russia, they tell me they have all volunteered to fight for Russia in Ukraine. They were turned away and told they were only taking trained and experienced reserves at this point. The Russians are very patriotic and know the difference between propaganda and facts. I wish that were true on FR.

Either it’s true, and Russia is super desperate for warm bodies, or it is fake news meant to scare more Russian men to flee rather than to report. Personally, I find it hard to believe that even Putin would sacrifice his people without letting them get the most basic training

From what I have read, it is mostly criminals, political prisoner and people who protest the war who are being sent to the front. So Putin empties his prisons of the opposition. It doesn’t matter if they fight and die or surrender because he is rid of them either way.
Yep. The upside in the minds of the conscripts is free food and clothes. Then somebody sticks a gun in their hands with the order, “Go kill the enemy.” Conscript: “How will I know who he is?” Commander: “Easy. He’s the one trying to kill you.”
So US Army is about breaking stereotypes and the Russian Army is about gaining the admiration of beautiful patriotic women who sing well.

It’s already started in earnest. Russia is fortifying its borders with soldiers amid ongoing street protests. Putin’s sick USSR fantasy is coming back to life. It will have the same death this time, too. Soon.
