The Russians Spent Months Forming A New Army Corps. It Lasted Days in Ukraine
Forbes ^ | 15th September 2022 | David Axe

The Kremlin this summer scrambled to form a new army corps, seeking replacements for 80,000 troops injured or killed in Ukraine and 5,000 wrecked or captured vehicles.

...As Russian casualties exceeded 50,000 this spring, the Kremlin began scraping together fresh battalions by raiding the training and garrison establishment of existing brigades. At the same time, the army announced an initiative to form scores of new regional volunteer battalions—and even offered elevated salaries of up to $5,000 a month.

This should come as no surprise. The recruitment drive behind the 3rd AC collided with Russia’s unhappy demographics and conscription practices. Roughly half of the 900,000 people in the Russian army forces are professionals on long-term contracts. The other half is conscripts between the ages of 18 and 27

elements of the 3rd AC in late August deployed to Kharkiv Oblast where, a week later, a dozen Ukrainian brigades launched a powerful counteroffensive that, in a heavy five days, rolled Russian forces out of the oblast and back across the Russian border.

The 3rd AC was supposed to bolster Russian defenses around Kharkiv. It instead lost a few vehicles to Ukrainian attacks then joined the Russian retreat from the oblast, leaving behind tanks and BMP-2 and BTR-80 fighting vehicles.

This war needs to end.

Russia withdrawing from Ukraine will save many lives

Being a 14 year USAF PJ and coming from a 5th generation military family, I RESPECT the Russian’s unlike you knuckleheads and our F-ing government filled with stooges, fake experts, and woke ass tards who are literally destroying our military and have now gotten us into precarious situation in Ukraine that WE have NO BUSINESS BEING INVOLVED IN, period.

I think Russia pays more than the US to enlisted, but less to the senior officers.
A sort of more egalitarian.

If you were responsible for counts, how would you go about getting casualty numbers . . . of the other side?

Satellite recon is the overwhelming most important reality of this war. This is the first war in the history of mankind in which both sides have excellent satellite sensors.

But bodies can be moved and satellites traverse the sky. They cannot be geosync because that’s 23,000 miles of range. Lower altitude satellites traverse. You have to be overhead when a body is sprawled from combat or you don’t count it.

So almost certainly, Russia’s decades of artillery database is being used to count Ukraine casualties. They are shooting far more shells and getting the counts they get from their artillery models. The Ukraine don’t have that database, and certainly not for artillery they have never used before. So it’s pretty clear their numbers are imaginary.

There is talk of spies in each other’s headquarters who can get casualty information. Almost certainly not so. If you had spies in the other headquarters, casualty count would be fairly low on the list of information you want to send to your handlers. Rather, tactics, plans, equipment expectations, routing of equipment . . . but casualties, nah.

So the Russians are using models that may be incorrect, but at least have a rationale. Ukraine has simply no data at all.

Remember that yourself, Ivan. Imagine the karma you rack up invading your neighbors.

The SMO and the denazification of Ukraine and the eradication of Ukraine’s ability to wage war/conflict are ongoing and will soon be achieved.

Advise ZelenskyyIdiot, the Azov’s, Kraken, etc., etc. within the neo-yatzi Ukrainian regime to start making preparations...

Russia is and authoritarian state. They need to draft 100,000 women a year, force each woman to have 2 babies before she can be released from the service. This is what Putin needs to do. Instead of potentially destroying his country by invading Ukraine.

“It changes everything.”

Not in what I said - and that’s why you didn’t post any examples.

“Furthermore, it proves that you are just one of those who swallows WEST?UK/EU/US/NATO propaganda whole, no questions asked.”

You’re wrong on all counts. This is one o f the disturbing things about the putinistas. You literally make things up about people who disagree with you. I spent years studying the history, languages, and cultures of Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltics. When you spend hours studying the differences between the Moksha and Erzya for no reason but sheer enjoyment you realize you’re probably too focused on Russia in your life. But no, in your fantasy world - and it is a fantasy world- anyone who disagrees with you is not just ignorant but a stooge who has “swallowed” propaganda. The putinistas are like a new class of Gnostics who believe only they have the secret decoder ring, only they can pull back the curtain and see the little man pulling levers, only they really know what’s going on and everyone else is blind.

In reality, the putinistas are as blind as they accuse everyone else of being.

Time will tell how “reality” plays out in the coming months and how blind “Puntinistas are,” as well as how “blind” those accusing them of such.

But getting back to “reality”, the roughly the end of next week or so, Russia will add roughly over 100,000 km2 and over 5 million plus people to the Russian Federation.

‘All the Young Dudes, Carry the (Russian) News’

“Russia already controls the territory that produces 95 percent of Ukrainian GDP. It has no need to press further west.” Donbass will be fully liberated and the next step is Odessa. Moscow is “in no hurry. The Russians are nothing if not methodical and deliberate. Ukrainian forces are bleeding to death in counterattack after counterattack. Why rush?”
