Agreed. And he exposed the lies of the left to a lot of independents who were hostile to him in 2016. I’d say the coutry became more unified after 4 years of Trump, not less (that’s if you ignore the paid agitators like ANTIFA, BLM and the MSM).

And that’s where your premise faulters. Trump became less polarizing between 2016 and 2020 because he had a record of sucess that he didn’t have in 2016.

You do realize that the things that conservatives consider "successes" - the tax reform bill, tightening the border, Supreme Court appointments, etc., greatly pissed off people who didn't like those things. That's what it means to be polarizing - you attract both more friends and more enemies.

He gained support among independents, and in particular Blacks and Latinos between 2016 and 2020. Yes, but those groups still went for Democrats overall, and more of them voted in 2020 than in 2016. The Democratic get out the vote drives in the ghettos and barrios was incredible.

He lost some votes of Soccer Moms in the suburbs of Atlanta, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Phoenix. Right there, that's the election. It didn't matter if Trump was able to get more votes from the Minorities. Right now, he's not going to get the votes of the same bloc in 2024. They hated Hillary so they voted Trump over Hillary. That was not the case in 2020.

“You do realize that the things that conservatives consider “successes” - the tax reform bill, tightening the border, Supreme Court appointments, etc., greatly pissed off people who didn’t like those things.”

The people who are foolish enough to hate lower taxes and border security already hated Trump in 2016.

“Yes, but those groups [Indepedents, Blacks, Latinos] still went for Democrats overall, and more of them voted in 2020 than in 2016. The Democratic get out the vote drives in the ghettos and barrios was incredible.”

That’s putting it mildly, and euphemistically. They went to Nursing homes in Wisconsin to “help” those in mental decline to vote. They broke state laws and ballot harvested on a grand scale. I encourage you to watch 2000ules if you doubt what I’m saying.

I don’t think it’s much of a surprise to anyone that covid and white 18-35 year old women going hard democrat did him in.

According to the numbers, Trump lost a little support with white males - maybe their wives pressured them not to vote Trump in 2020. Also, the Democrats fought dirty. That played a rule too. We will see a repeat of that in 2024 unless Trump has a "game plan" to beat the Left. Right now, I don't see it. He is only one man.

“He lost some votes of Soccer Moms in the suburbs of Atlanta, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Phoenix.”

So we’re told. And yet that’s a voting trend that oddly just showed up in the localities you cited - all of which stopped counting votes on election night and continued counting votes for days if not weeks. Other localities with similar demographics didn’t break in the way you describe. Why did Biden lose 18 of 19 Bellwether counties if the trends you cite really existed? Why did Wisconsin and Michigan squeak out a win for Biden when Trump won a landslide in Ohio? Does Ohio not have suburban soccer moms?

May they get everything they so richly deserve.

Have you been to Ohio? It's more rural. Sort of like Missouri. I don't know if you remember but back in 2000, they used to call Missouri a "swing" state. Now Ohio's the same way.

Ohio is more rural than Wisconsin? I don’t think so. Michigan and Ohio have a similar rural/urban break down. All three states have a large number of Blue Collar Union workers and similar demographics.

Regarding Castro:

That was the greatest bait and switch of all times.

Many Cubans never saw it coming, especially the elite and the intelligentsia.

A dear friend of mine got out with his family just in time. They had seen the writing on the wall.

The rest of the extended family were not so fortunate. They lost jobs, houses, everything.

I would hate to see it happen here.

Where would we escape to?

I want some real conservatives to take over the legislature in this cycle.

we can concern ourselves with the executive branch next.

DeSantis needs to be prepping a replacement as Florida governor.

Nothing about voting matters because leftists own the ballot box and conservatives did NOTHING to secure the vote via VOTER ID.

This is all an exercise in futility.

“I think he would have gotten more support ... if he had not gone scorched earth on his rivals during the primaries”

I’ve said this often. He made too many enemies who normally would’ve and could’ve been allies. McCain was a traitorous SOB, but Trump’s put-down of him about getting caught in the Vietnam war hurt him bigly.

Every election has only one nominee per party. Every prospective nominee has a window of opportunity that must be exploited. Remember President Cuomo who stood by in 1992 because of the popularity of GWH Bush. Remember President Christie who passed at the peak of his popularity in 2012.

Pence MUST run. Larry Hogan MUST run. They will not be successful, but this is their last best chance.

Bill Clinton (at 46) ran in 1992 expecting to build name recognition for a future run. Had he waited his turn, perhaps he would have been someone’s VP or he would have watched another Dem serve two terms. Should DeSantis (who will be 46) run? He probably should.

BTW - I support Donald Trump returning to serve the presidency that was stolen from us.
