Ukrainian strikes into Russia’s border towns compound Putin’s troubles

After a successful Ukrainian counteroffensive in the northeast of the country, the messy war that Russian President Vladimir Putin started is now being fought directly on his doorstep, with artillery strikes hitting military targets in Russia and Russian officials in cities and towns along the border ordering hasty evacuations.

On Saturday, a new round of strikes hit the Belgorod region in Western Russia, killing at least one person and wounding two.

On Friday, Ukraine reportedly struck the base of the Russian 3rd Motorized Rifle Division near Valuyki, just nine miles north of the Russia—Ukraine border. Russian officials did not acknowledge that a military target was hit but said one civilian died, and the local electrical grid experienced a temporary disruption.

Russia blamed the attacks on Ukraine, but Kyiv did not claim responsibility for striking targets in Russian territory.

Kyiv has assured U.S. officials that donated weapons would not be used to strike targets inside Russia proper. But Ukrainian forces are now so close to the border that they can hit targets using their own less-advanced weaponry.

That Russian citizens are starting to seriously feel the impact of the war directly is another new source of pressure on Putin, who returned home this weekend from a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan where he faced a remarkable public rebuke by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questions about the war from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Deaths will be distributed across the forces of many nations - and into many countries.

Europe will be the biggest loser, followed by the USA, as the acceleration of the SCO results.

Or Russia goes from a SMO to a full declaration of war.

You do realize only 10% of the Russian military is involved with thr SMO?

And, right until recently, the infrastructure of da Ukraine has remained untouched?

Update on Russian military operations in Ukraine for September 18, 2022

- Ukrainian offensives in Kherson and Kharkov have both ground to a halt;

- Near Kherson, a Russian strike on a dam up-river of the Ingulets has flooded crossings, isolating Ukrainian bridgeheads east of the river;

- Ukrainian forces have been fighting for days attempting to take eastern Kopiansk with no success as Russian reinforcements arrive;

- Potential Ukrainian offensives elsewhere are still a possibility;

- Winter fighting may see Russian military aviation given the advantage as Ukrainian forces' ability to hide in forests diminishes;

- The US is sending fewer and fewer weapons and ammunition to Ukraine;

Won’t be surprised to see sabotage inside Moscow and St. Petersburg... elsewhere.

Its coming—the Big War. The thundering of the Four Horsemen is heard in the distance. America isn’t ready for this. We think its all video games ands just another TV show—but real war is a very terrible thing. Wail until you see illegals flooding out of the country due to radiation from glowing cities, American Liberals fleeing to neutral Canada. This will be “Limited” Nuke war—still 23 Million Americans will die. Only cities that will NOT be hit? Moscow and Washington DC (Russia/China has too many friends there). I really hope I am wrong—I hope my tea leaves are incorrect. I know what seems like we are heading into a dark tunnel.

“The west continues to provoke WWIII.”

Imagine how different everything could have been there if Russia had not invaded in 2014 or 2022?

OK, but I'd hardly call that his doorstep. Looks to be about 250 miles from Moscow.
