As India Joins China in Distancing From Russia, Putin Warns of Escalation
The New York Times ^ | September 16, 2022 | By Anton Troianovski, Mujib Mashal and Julian E. Barnes

Underlining Russia’s widening isolation on the world stage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India told President Vladimir V. Putin on Friday that it is no time for war — even as the Russian president threatened to escalate the brutality of his campaign in Ukraine.

The televised critique by Mr. Modi at a regional summit in Uzbekistan came just a day after Mr. Putin acknowledged that Xi Jinping, China’s leader, had “questions and concerns” about the war.

Taken together, the distancing from Mr. Putin by the heads of the world’s two most populous countries — both of which have been pivotal to sustaining Russia’s economy in the face of Western sanctions — punctured the Kremlin’s message that Russia was far from a global pariah.

“I know that today’s era is not of war,” Mr. Modi told Mr. Putin at the beginning of their meeting, describing global challenges like the food and energy crises that were hitting developing countries especially hard. “Today we will get a chance to discuss how we can move forward on the path of peace.”

China hardly distancing themselves from Russia.

So what do you call Xi publicly warning Russia that Kazakhstan is now in China's sphere of influence?

'China warns against meddling in Kazakhstan ahead of Putin meeting'

After meeting President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Kazakhstan’s capital, Xi made it clear that Beijing would not tolerate any encroachments on Kazakhstan’s territory.

“I would like to assure you that the government of China pays huge attention to relations with Kazakhstan,” he said, in remarks quoted in Russian in Tokayev’s office’s readout of the meeting.

“However the international situation changes, going forward we will also resolutely support Kazakhstan in the defense of its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; firmly support the reforms conducted by you to assure stability and development; [and] categorically come out against interference by any forces in the internal affairs of your country.”

This from Germany from your link, hard to imagine:,p> Another industry sector facing extreme hardship is the bakery industry, which relies heavily of affordable energy. According to Blackout News:

“For bakeries, the energy crisis is now worse than the Corona pandemic, according to industry sources. ‘We have the problem as a micro baker that we have to adjust our prices to the raw material and energy prices, of course, which also burdens the customer, if he is also a bit tighter on cash,’ says an affected baker from Heilbronn.”

One baker in our local area has seen his monthly gas bills go from 3000 euros earlier this year to 11,000 euros!

Presently, the Euro is almost the same as the dollar so this bakery had his electric bill go from 3,000 a month to 11,000,totaly insane!

THis is what happens when total liberalism rules in a country like Germany.

“going forward we will also resolutely support Kazakhstan in the defense of its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; firmly support the reforms conducted by you to assure stability and development; [and] categorically come out against interference by any forces in the internal affairs of your country.”

In what way is this different to the terms that the USA, UK and Belarus agreed with Russia and Ukraine when all five of them signed the Budapest Memorandum?

China’s reminders to Putin over Khazakstan are exactly the same as the reminders that were given to Putin by NATO, the EU, Ukraine, and the United Nations.

It was bloody obvious that these bodies would support Ukraine in the defense of its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; firmly support the reforms needed to end its dependency on corruption, assure its stability, and improve its economic development; [and] categorically come out against interference by Russian sponsors in the internal affairs of eastern and Southern Oblasts.

Putin and China’s NWO is less about getting rid of the concepts that are embedded in the International Rule of Law as represented by the UN Charter and surrounding conventions, as it is about having the ability to just opt out of those agreements and undertakings without doing the decent thing and quitting the UN Security Council.

I say, give them exactly what they want. Let them have their pariochial alternative to the UN with its own rules... But if they no longer want to abide by the UN rulebook, they forfeit their seats at the UNSC and UNGA.

Let’s see which international rules-based institution lasts longer. One where all member states have a voice that matters, or one where China and Russia fix the rules in their favor and everyone else just has to accept that they’re in the “vassal state” tier.

Putin could usher in world peace if he would obliterate the New York Times. That building is the gateway to hell and it’s occupants are servants of Satan. /spit

The world looks at the wall and sees the message....Russia is poison

The world is politely leaving Putin out in the cold and noting that he is a loser. There is no upside for deals with a Russia that is withering on the vine

Actually, Turkey is also a loser and not really a card at all. Erdogen is pretending to be relevant as he continues to fail

The NYT is lying again. I have been reading how Russia and China are in talks for a Nordstream II and other things. Anyway, who believes the NYT

“funny they are in bed together”

So after spending a night in bed Putin asks, “You are going to call me again, right.”

China, “Yeah, sure.”

History is filled with strange bedfellows. I can think of 2 in recent history.

1- Soviet Union and USA during WW2.
2- Nazi Germany and Soviet Union at start of WW2.

The question arises: was Xi warning Russia or the West about Kazakhstan? The Western powers have been pushing “color revolutions” against former Soviet states for several decades. China would rather have a dependent Russia hold sway over Central Asia than the NATO alliance. Chinese techniques have been based on control through trade and bribery, whether in Asia or Africa. Russia, China, Iran, and perhaps Turkey and India, see the Western nations as terminally decadent, and ready to collapse, like the Western Roman Empire in the 5th Century, the Spanish Empire.

I took a World Affairs or some such course in college where the class was divided into fictional countries and give a list of interests.

Then each country began negotiating with the other countries to establish agreements.

That was eye opening and why you see “strange bedfellows”. There are interests being negotiated that will never be known publically.

What did Xi say about Ukraine?

“Keep an eye on Turkey’s cultural wellbeing. It’s looking healthy compared to the West.”

With an 80% inflation rate? “Healthy” is not the word I would have used.

Wasn’t referring to the economics, but the (apparently) more conservative culture. Of course Turkey’s a hybrid ME, Western, Asian culture but it doesn’t seem to be showing signs of Wokism and other Western idiocy.

I may be completely off base, but just some observations.
