As India Joins China in Distancing From Russia, Putin Warns of Escalation
The New York Times ^ | September 16, 2022 | By Anton Troianovski, Mujib Mashal and Julian E. Barnes

Underlining Russia’s widening isolation on the world stage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India told President Vladimir V. Putin on Friday that it is no time for war — even as the Russian president threatened to escalate the brutality of his campaign in Ukraine.

The televised critique by Mr. Modi at a regional summit in Uzbekistan came just a day after Mr. Putin acknowledged that Xi Jinping, China’s leader, had “questions and concerns” about the war.

Taken together, the distancing from Mr. Putin by the heads of the world’s two most populous countries — both of which have been pivotal to sustaining Russia’s economy in the face of Western sanctions — punctured the Kremlin’s message that Russia was far from a global pariah.

“I know that today’s era is not of war,” Mr. Modi told Mr. Putin at the beginning of their meeting, describing global challenges like the food and energy crises that were hitting developing countries especially hard. “Today we will get a chance to discuss how we can move forward on the path of peace.”

“And yet they’re forging an economic alliance.”

Very true, considering that there seems to a ‘regional summit’ out there with leaders of the two most populous countries of the world (India and China), and the leader of the 5th most populous country (Pakistan), with Putin attending, and even a NATO member (Turkey) present and ready to join them.

Yet no one from Western Europe or the US, not even John Kerry.

That’s all...the point being that the world is now moving ahead without the West - something that the Western media is being VERY QUIET about, but a clear fallout from their Ukraine adventure - if they had a big problem with Putin, he wouldn’t be there.

China and Russia are finalizing a pipeline capable of delivering a massive amount of gas into China.

India is still buying lots of oil from Russia along with many other products.

The overwhelming majority of the world’s countries don’t support sanctions against Russia. Conservative Treehouse has said map of this and its around 80% of the world’s countries and it hasn’t changed much as a very recent attempt by Zelensky and Company to have a meeting with the reps of the African Union to get on board with Zelensky was rebuffed, all but a few told him to go pound sand, with the same thing occurring with the overwhelming majority of central and South American countries saying the same to Zel.

Russia, India, and China are all in the SCO and BRICS as well. That isn’t going to change.

Russia has turned off the transponders on their oil tankers so Russia is selling all over the world still no doubt.

Germany fears inevitable bankruptcy amid energy crisis

The Bundestag calls on the country to negotiate with Russia ‘with an open mind’, as anti-Russian sanctions begin to take their toll on the deteriorating economy and energy scarcity.

In a tweet on Thursday, German left-wing politician and chairman of the Bundestag committee on energy, Klaus Ernst, referenced statements by Chancellor Olaf Scholz that the sanctions should not hit Europe harder than Russia itself: “We have now imposed seven packages of sanctions and Gazprom is making record profits. At the same time, we are threatened with a wave of bankruptcies. Therefore: negotiate with Russia with an open mind”.

“turkey is a wild card”

They very much are. They’re likely debating leaving NATO, and if they do, so goes the Black Sea.

I think India is being two-faced and they are playing off both sides (the bloc led by the West vs the East - Russia and China).

I wouldn't blame India. India purchases cheap oil from Russia. Plus a lot of their military equipment is from Russia. China is their 2nd largest trading partner (after USA).

Check out post #9.

Info about the pipeline going to China from Russia involving Mongolia that will deliver a gargantuan amount of gas, plus info on how India is still buying oil and other products from Russia, how most countries don’t support sanctions on Russia, etc.

I’m about to wrap it up for the night. Take care!

“india is india, never trust them”

Another way to put it is that India has an India-First policy...something that seems totally missing in the West these days (other than Japan, Hungary, and a few other small countries) and without that policy, it’s difficult to see how countries can survive.
