“Lol, I’m sure not defending Germany. First they elect Merkel, then they outlaw coal and nuclear, then they make partners with Communist Russia on a pipeline, then Russia, predictably, cuts them off.”

You all live in the Lala-land.

The pipelines exist since 1970s and used to make the competitive edge for Germany.

Russia isn’t cutting them off, the Germans are doing it in a blind stroke of rage, expecting energy to arrive, as promised by the US LNG lobby.

Once it fails to arrive they say Russia is an unreliable partner and can’t be trusted on energy anymore.

That explains why the usual suspects are seeking to destroy it.

Do you have any idea how a nuclear launch is ordered by the chief executive of any nation?

Due to the immediate possible threat of nuclear war, no one is allowed to second guess any order to launch.   There is not enough time to allow that second guess.   That is why the President is the most powerful individual on the planet, and the same goes for Putin and Xi.

I think Putin would not be allowed to launch a peacetime nuclear war solely on his own, the men who actually do the launching would not comply.

The 2020 doctrine presents four scenarios which might justify the use of Russian nuclear weapons:

— the use of nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction against Russia or its allies;

— data showing the launch of ballistic missiles aimed at Russia or its allies;

— an attack on critical government or military sites that would undermine the country’s nuclear forces response actions;

— the use of conventional weapons against Russia “when the very existence of the state is in jeopardy”.

IF PUTIN GIVES THE NUCLEAR ORDER, WHAT HAPPENS?
The Russian General Staff has access to the launch codes and has two methods of launching nuclear warheads. It can send authorisation codes to individual weapons commanders, who would then execute the launch procedures. There is also a back-up system, known as Perimetr, which allows the General Staff to directly initiate the launch of land-based missiles, bypassing all the immediate command posts.

Regardless of what pap the Biden Admin. put out, there was no chance NATO was going to accept Ukraine. Putin damn well knew it, too.

NATO did provoke Russia by moving eastward. I don’t think that can really be debated.

Actually, that can be debated. Russia’s neighbors provoke Russia by simply existing and have done so for hundreds of years. Long before NATO appeared on the scene.

Libya was involved in aiding Palestinian terrorists in hijacking and blowing up Israeli and American planes, aiding in carrying out ground terrorist attacks throughout the Middle East and possibly in America proper and attacking Israel in the various wars from 1967 onward.

Libyan agents reportedly tried to kidnap or kill defectors and political opponents in the U.S. in the 1970s. Possibly backseaters in attacks on US embassies in Africa too.

Other possible secondary logistical support for terrorist groups at sites in Libya. Might have included the Baader-Meinhoff Group too.

“Does anyone think Putin will just sit back and let Germany take over Russian oil refineries?”

Yes, I do.

The Germans already took over the Gazprom facilities, and Putin could not stop them.

Germany is completely divorcing its larger economy from Russia’s, in the space of one year. It is one of many simultaneous Strategic defeats that Putin has brought upon Russia this year. His disastrous mis-rule is historic in scale - worst ever.

One of the most dangerous things one can do is to underestimate their opponent. While Russia does not have the capability of the USSR, it is still no slouch either.

If you think Ukraine has won this war, then you must know that the war will end with this drive.

How many times do you think we had Vietnam on the run, or vice versa? Dissension at home is what finally ended that war, not the combatants overcoming their opponent. Not sure if Russians would accomplish the same outcome if they started to dissent.

Its clear that the world has overestimated the capabilities off the Russian military

Germany will pay a high price for this illegal action—isn’t this close to a declaration of War? Remember Germany go rid of her army and navy—they have no U-Boats and what weapons they that sent to Ukraine. Putin has ways to strike back— Not a wise move.

Take your Putinist doggerel and shove it.

Russia has no power or control over what the independent nations of Eastern Europe do.

Every one of them has ran as far from RuSSia as they can get FOR GOOD REASON.

And furthermore, you RuSSia fans don’t seem too concerned about RuSSia’s cooperative defense organization that it formed with much of central and western Asia.

RuSSia has intervened militarily and politically many times in the internal affairs of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, etc.

Your “concerns” are selective.

LR — firstly, NATO did not “move eastwards” — Countries like Poland, Estonia, Romania etc. requested to join and did the reforms necessary to join NATO. Why? Because they were afraid of Russian invasion (and they were correct as 2008/2014/2022 shows)

secondly you are talking about “gut feelings” and how Russia suffered “three invasions from the west” - but have you looked into the history of that?

1. Napoleon — the Russians first attacked the French. Emperor Alexander I in the war of the 3rd coalition fought alongside the Austro-Hungarians and British against Napoleon and were defeated. The Russians were not innocents.

2. The invasion by Wilhelm II - again, Russia was far from innocent - it declared war on the Austro-Hungarians knowing that Imperial Germany would come in. And they attacked first at Tannenberg. The Russians thought they would use their artillery and numbers and win just as in the current war. And they lost

3. “one from Hitler” — perhaps you forget that the USSR was Nazi Germany’s ally from 1939? And they jointly invaded Poland? Russia was no innocent.

You then say “it is reasonable” to not want NATO on its borders.

Should Poland or Estonia or Lativa or Finland cite the presence of Russia on their borders as a threat and create “buffer zones”??

Or even more so - if the Russians WANTED their neighbours not to join NATO, they shouldn’t be constantly threatening invasions.
