A new poll shows Gov. Kathy Hochul with a big lead over Republican rival Lee Zeldin (R-Suffolk) despite a plurality of New York voters saying they have an unfavorable view of the Democratic incumbent ahead of the Nov. 8 election.
Just 36% of respondents had a positive opinion of Hochul, compared to 41% unfavorable – but she had a 54% to 39% lead over Zeldin, according to data compiled by Public Policy Polling on behalf of her political allies.
Zeldin, her conservative challenger, has come within single digits in two GOP-friendly surveys in recent weeks, with others showing her lead in the double digits amid big advantages with fundraising and 2-to-1 Democratic voter enrollment in the state. *** “Between Public Policy Polling being an infamously biased polling company with a bizarre and inaccurate focus solely on text/robocall messaging, and the Hochul-backing AFL-CIO bankrolling this poll in New York, these results should be given the same credibility as a show of hands taken in Kathy Hochul’s living room,” Zeldin spokeswoman Katie Vincentz claimed in a statement. ***

Zeldin has a shot with this being a Midterm election if dem voter turnout is low because they think Hochul cannot lose, AND republican turnout is high.
May they get everything they so richly deserve.
