PHOENIX — Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake wants Arizona to join nine other states in not having an income tax — if she can make it work.

“I want to eventually get rid of the income tax if we can do that,” Lake told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show on Thursday. “I haven’t made that promise because I don’t want to make a promise that I can’t keep.

“But I want to get it down to as close to zero as possible so we can compete with some of these other states.”

A tax increase in disguise. It means other taxes will go up leading to an overall tax increase.

“A tax increase in disguise.”

They already did that. Ducey created a tax on internet purchases. We didn’t have one.

If you seriously think Gov. Kari Lake would allow that to happen on her watch, you have not been paying attention!

Excellent, looking forward to income tax elimination. Income tax, another marxist enslavement method.

Bad enough that the feds clip your income, here in NH we do not have an income tax (nor a sales tax). States can get by without robbing their constituents.

That would be awesome. It would offset the ridiculous property taxes here in Pima Count. I guess we can thank all the Californian’s for moving here in droves and driving up home prices to unsustainable levels. The property taxes never reflect the downturns.

They can start by imposing a massive wealth tax on Californians wanting to move to Arizona.

We don’t have one in Florida. We have sales taxes (although not insane, and probably lower than a lot of states that also have an income tax), usage fees for state parks and facilities (but so do the “income tax states”), and a careful state government that doesn’t spend like drunken sailors. Makes all the difference.

BS. Come and see what is going on in my state of Florida.

NO state income tax.
No state death tax.
Lower sales tax than most states.
Lower Property tax than every state I have live in.
Lower motor vehicle tax than most other states.
Best maintained highway, rest areas, city streets.
Very low crime rate.

All because we have a great governor, DeSantis.

Ducey and the Republican state legislature cut marginal state tax rates in half and now Arizona has a 4 billion dollar surplus. The good news is we attracted California business and jobs to Arizona. The bad news is Californians came with them. lol

Already there are many cities and towns here with a 10% sales tax.
Also the property tax here is very high.
The state and county governments here are flush with money.

I was in the wholesale food business for a few years.
Most states with no sales tax, really do have a sales tax. They tax the item on the wholesale side. Tax is then built into retail price.
Smoke and mirrors.

All income taxes need to go. There's a reason our Founding Fathers refused it.

It can be used to pry into people's personal lives and also control their behaviors.

It makes everyone a slave to the government.

I looked at Arizona very seriously as a state to retire to; lower taxes, mostly Conservative, great on Second Amendment, nice climate, lots of other good points.

Decided not to because it’s a WATER POOR state, I’m an old fart who likes to grow orchards and shoot my pistols and rifles, I’m also a Californian (born and raised).

No wells equals no orchards, no water means I can’t grow old and die on my farm, so it just can’t happen.
