Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the Department of Justice had “no choice” but to raid former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate to recover classified documents.
Guest-host Terry Moran asked, “You mentioned the former President, Donald Trump. Let’s talk about the search of Mar-a-Lago and the legal battle that’s come out. Chris, call on your experience on that. The judge in this case, or in the case that the Trump team brought has appointed a special master to look over all of the material seized out of Mar-a-Lago. The Justice Department is appealing. Former Attorney General Bill Barr said that that was a deeply flawed ruling. What do you make of it and the justice department’s chances?”

Strange that no democrats home or office has ever been raided by the DOJ. I guess they must be as pure as driven snow.
I’m sure the head archivist at the National Archives could have scheduled a meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and the documents of interest could have been reviewed quietly, and any discrepancies addressed without the drama of a raid.
Same with Elian Gonzalez.

So Chris Christie is trotted out, as a Republican, who is opposed to Trump. Chris Christie is pandering and bending over backwards, to prove that he is with the liberals on this issue.
He’s trying to show he’s one of the “reasonable” Republicans Biden referred to in his “Soul of the Nation” speech.
He knows which side the bread is buttered.

DOJ had no disincentive for doing this as there is no real opposition party to hold Democrats accountable for power abuses.

Objectively speaking, Chris Christie has a lot of natural talents that would lend themselves to becoming a successful politician, but his ego and his vanity disqualify him for consideration. He can no longer be trusted.
He has become another bitter man, i.e. George Conway.
It’s amazing to me how out of touch with the rank-&-file Republican politicians like Christie (and others!) are? Do they really think there’s a significant anti-Trump group out there they can say something like this and appeal to? The only applause they’ll get is the circle of has-beens, bootlickers and GOP-oriented PR types that ring the Beltway and inhabit a few state capitals. In raw numbers that group wouldn’t pack a midsize high school gymnasium.
