Does it get any better than this?...sarc
I have heard stories about F-35 problems but this one.
Don't blame the media for this the announcement from the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin.

This isn’t a mistake.

How the heck does China have access to our fighters in the first place?

Worked for the DoD in support of the Navy warfighter for 31 years and we were always vigilant as to part/material sources.....and that’s not just China BTW.
From scanning the article I got the distinct impression they are already considering waving the Chinese parts or materials restriction in this particular case.

Too funny. Pratt & Whitney just celebrated their 1,000th F135 engine today. “Dependable Engines”. *cough*

Through their purchase of our politicians of course.
Seriously this is very disgusting but you can bet it’s barely to tip of an iceberg.

I wonder how many F-35 parts they have the designs for? The type of information an enemy would love to have. It there is suddenly a Chinese jet that resembles the F-35, then we will know.

OR even a parts supplier? I’m pretty sure this is technically against the LAW - and Lockheed-Martin SHOULD be fined (significantly) for this. Alas - watch which lawmakers jump to their defense... and we will know who benefitted from this “deal”...

“an alloy used in magnets in the F-35’s turbomachine pumps was produced in China”
That material could have very well been supplied by a third or even fourth party supplier and the material source tracking info fell through the cracks somewhere.
Just a guess at what could be one of many scenarios.....but I’ve personally seen that particular one.
