"If it's a personality contest, he'll be in trouble," Graham told CNBC.

(snip)

Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Graham said he believes Trump "could be" the best person to represent the Republican Party in 2024.

Sen. Lindsey Graham said former President Donald Trump would be a strong contender in the 2024 presidential election if he could only curb his personality.

"Whether you like Trump or not he was a consequential president," Graham said. "I think a strong American president — unpredictable — is a good thing as long as you keep it within the boundaries."

"His problem is personal…”

"His problem is personal(ity), his policies have stood the test of time"

Withpout the personality, you don't get the policies, Lindsey.

That backdrop and that mean face are going to be hard for the Cadaver to live down.

Norwegian sculptor Vigeland portrayed such a tantrum:

> Lindsey should be talking about Biden’s Hitler imitation. <

As I noted in my post #21, Graham is right about Trump needing to control his personality more.

But you have hit upon an even greater point. The GOP has a history of picking at fellow members when they should be focusing on the opposition instead.

“Most of us” aren’t the votes he needs. He needs suburban women who ultimately like his policies but are totally turned off by his personality.

I know exactly what you mean.

Oh, and these are the sort who will spew their BS and then insist that the discussion is over. Yeah, been there.

He did ok in 2016; probably in 2020, too.

Written like the neocon, establishment Republican we all know you are.

Trump won the last election. Easily. He'll win again easily so long as the Democrats' ability to rig the election is taken away.

I’m a suburban woman. I like his personality very much. Problem with my women colleagues is they lack the humility to realize men need to fight in their own way for our country in every generation. Reagan pointed this out. Women also fail. Fail. To understand the unlimited scope of what people are willing to do and how to react to that.

Well, I don’t see him changing. The Trump we’ve seen is the one we’re probably always going to get.

SC are you proud of your senior senator.

He never held judiciary hearings to combat
the never ending attacks on Trump, so Trump
had to defend himself, so if that came off
hard, its Grahams fault. He knew Russia was
Hillary dirty work because if I knew he knew.

Graham has done nothing for years except pushing
one neocon war after another.

Where is he on the border mess?

One of the things Trump needs to quit doing and that is debating the 2020 election. That election is History and he needs to focus on the future.

It’d be great if he tempered his personality

Wnat, so he becomes a Linda look-a-like? Sure.

Has Graham spoken out against the stolen election? No?

How about the Biden family corruption? No? Clinton family corruption? DNC corruption?

No.

Bingo. The accepted strategy is to go bare knuckles during the primary season, but then pivot towards the center during the general election. That strategy is a good one.

Unfortunately Trump is bare knuckles all the time. That fires up the base. But in a general election, Trump already has the base! He is losing the swing voters.

Trump really needs a chief of staff who will filter his comments. But Trump refuses to let anyone do that.

Personality contest. 🙄

Yeah, and Biden has such a great personality. If you like a combination of evil, corrupt and empty-headed.

Well said. My sentiments exactly. I level the same critique at Ron Johnson (only Johnson has a bit more going for him — says some of the right things on TV, daily).
