Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of using energy as a weapon by keeping a critical pipeline to Germany shut down in recent days, exacerbating electricity and natural gas shortfalls ahead of the winter months.
"Russia wants to destroy the normal life of every European — in all countries of our continent," Zelenskyy said in his nightly address on Saturday.
"Where Russia cannot do it by force of conventional weapons, it does so by force of energy weapons. It is trying to attack with poverty and political chaos where it cannot yet attack with missiles. This winter, Russia is preparing for a decisive energy attack on all Europeans."
Russian energy company Gazprom has blamed technical problems for this week's shutdown of Nord Stream 1, saying that oil leaks in turbines must be fixed before natural gas flows resume.

Played properly a “never fail to take advantage of a crisis” approach will turn the crisis to support for the pols. Almost like what Pooty has managed in terms of public opinion. That can’t last forever, but it probably will last a while.

It seems that US support for Ukraine is gradually becoming dependent on the relations between Washington and Beijing. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continued to try to gain a foothold in certain areas of the Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog direction.
💥The Russian Aerospace Forces, rocket troops and artillery are delivering precision strikes against units and reserves of Ukrainian troops. In total, over the past day, during the hostilities in this operational direction, the enemy lost 11 tanks, 7 infantry fighting vehicles and 8 other armored vehicles, 9 pickup trucks with heavy machine guns and more than 220 military personnel.
💥In addition, high-precision weapons in the areas of the settlements of Bereznegovatoe and Murakhovka of the Nikolaev region hit the points of temporary deployment of the 57th motorized infantry brigade. In the area of the village of Kochubeevka, Kherson region, the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force.
