When We Gather Together
Let us not neglect our meeting together, . . . but encourage one another. Hebrews 10:25 NLT
Denmark is among the happiest countries in the world, according to the World Happiness Report. The Danes weather their lengthy, dark winters by gathering with friends to share a warm drink or a gracious meal. The word they use for the feelings associated with those moments is hygge (hoo-gah). Hygge helps them offset the impact of enjoying less sunlight than their counterparts at lower latitudes. By circling around a simple table with loved ones, their hearts are nourished.
The writer of Hebrews encourages gathering together as a community. He acknowledges that there will be difficult days—with challenges far more significant than the weather—requiring those who follow Christ to persevere in faith. Though Jesus has made certain our acceptance by God through our faith in the Savior, we may struggle against shame or doubt or real opposition. By gathering together, we have the privilege of encouraging one another. When we’re sharing company, we’re able to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” which bolsters our faith (Hebrews 10:24).
Gathering with friends doesn’t assure us of a ranking on a “happiness report.” It is, however, something the Bible offers as a means to bear us up in faith under the common frustrations of life. What a wonderful reason to seek out the community of a church or to open our homes—with an attitude of Danish simplicity—to nourish one another’s hearts! — Kirsten Holmberg
How has gathering together with others encouraged you? Who can you encourage with an open heart?
Thank You, God, that I can encourage other believers and be encouraged by them when we gather together.

Howdy, luvie.
We always remember them!
Still comfy enough there to have the house opened up again today? I had the laundry room window cracked open this afternoon so the AC return would pull fresh air through the house. Not bad at all outside today. The window would be wide open now BUT Hubby just had to mow again tonight. At least he wasn’t too close to the house this time and I’m not choking like last night. Whew!

Thank goodness he mowed far enough away that it didn’t choke you and you’ve been able to enjoy some fresh air. Do you think you’ll get any rain soon?
I had to turn my fan off. My FEET were cold. First time in months. And it rained again just when it was time to feed the kitties. I’m sure they’re tired of it. Not me, though. Right now it’s 70 beautiful degrees. I might have to have a bit of cover tonight. I’ve only been sleeping with the bottom sheet on the bed. No way did I need cover since about April. LOL!

Good evening, radu...how’s the rain situation? Still sprinkling off and on today.
Right after I posted tonight, I got a call from work. We spent a couple hours on a Teams meeting (like Zoom) trying to figure out some answers to questions and redoing and making and finessing a new timesheet for some folks to use. We tried to anticipate any questions regarding its use. I think we ended up with a good product. We will see what kind of email answer we get tomorrow.
Yes, early to bed...I am mentally beat! Then off to the office in the morning to print odd checks and get the garnishments done and mailed.

It was very nice to be able to open the window a little this afternoon. I also sat on the patio for a bit after I woke up. It got up close to 90 but it didn’t feel like it at all. Tomorrow is supposed to be a repeat, then we have a chance for showers from Friday on into next week.
It’s 63 at the moment and is supposed to drop to upper 50s overnight.
Your poor kitties. The rain just won’t let them eat in peace, will it? :-(
It’ll feel strange sleeping with a sheet over you after all these months.

I’m glad you had a nice cool day....we did, too. This is the first day I’ve had to turn the fan OFF because my feets got chilled. LOL!
Are you still making those amazing mixers?
