On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that while he is pro-choice and thinks abortion isn’t murder, it’s wrong to say pro-life people are anti-women, because if you think abortion is murder, you can’t say, “well, except for people with a vagina, they can commit murder.” And pushed back against arguments that pro-life people shouldn’t impose their values by saying, “you wouldn’t say that about a murderer. That’s what their point is.”
Maher said, “I’m more pro-choice than you can imagine. I don’t think life is always precious, most people don’t think that. What I’m saying is, you shouldn’t say to the other side, you people hate women. They don’t hate women. They just think it’s murder. And if you think it’s murder, then you can’t go, well, except for people with a vagina, they can commit murder. I don’t think it’s murder, but they legitimately do.”

I think he’s basically just a contrarian of convenience, but this is a legitimate point that many pro-abortiin types just don’t want to hear.
Interesting
There are times he speaks too much sense, then there are others times I am like W T F.
Certainly not going to make me watch his show tho. kekw
Maher is becoming more of a libertarian, a classical John Locke liberal with a modern twist.
Because he is using his brain and conscience which is not perfect. At the very least he is thinking and working through the arguments and discussing these things out loud. The problem today is the reliance on memes and true conversation and debate is basically dead.
I just see years of drug abuse!
I cancelled my HBO due to Maher years ago and haven’t looked back. Don’t have any time to listen to him and don’t care to.
Hopefully Maher is making some people wake up and start thinking for themselves.
Most respectfully, what you wrote was ignorant nonsense.
Here it is: “Maher is becoming more of a libertarian, a classical John Locke liberal with a modern twist.”
John Lock believed in basic equal rights, to life, liberty, and property. Maher doesnt. Thats why he supports mass murder. So Maher is like Stalin and the Fuhrer with a modern twist.
Maher says it is okay to kill certain people, whose lives are not precious, according to him. Unborn people, probably handicapped people, probably old people, who knows what others. But then Maher is an Atheist, and Atheists have no logical basis for morality. Mass murder, whatever. Whatever is good for old numero uno.
Yup he is, good change and he has a good reach
Bill Maher is a comedian.
He is on television. Everything on television is faked. Everything. I have friends in news, I have friends in ‘reality tv’ and I know writers. Everything is scripted. IF it’s on the television, there is fakery.
Bill Maher makes his money this way. He, unlike others, is his own PR and publicist, but others (like recently Shia Lebouf and before Kanye West) have people they hire to keep them rich and famous.
Bill Maher doesn’t believe ANY of the crap that comes out of his mouth. This is his job, this is how he makes money and he’s going to do this to get that result.
Ever notice how he was fading into oblivion before he came up with his anti-trans stance ? That got him back into the spotlight and now his career is revitalized.
All about timing. Bill Maher didn’t make any switch at any point. The things that come out of his mouth aren’t his thoughts.
“Hopefully Maher is making some people wake up and start thinking for themselves.”
But in the meantime he’s telling them how to think. I don’t care how he thinks. I can only answer for myself. And there hasn’t been an answer for him for years as he just goes where the money is. He’s a con man, not a soothsayer.

I see your points and agree. But if he helps some people wake up, it’s a good thing.
I can’t stand him.
‘...and Atheists have no logical basis for morality.’
and what you just posted wins the blue ribbon for blather; what makes you think you have any more basis for morality than I do...?
basic human behavior revolves around not doing to someone what you would not want them to do to you; what does believing in supernatural deities offer you with following that simplistic principle that it doesn’t offer me...?
Eternal life in a new and perfected creation. That’s the offer.
There is no downside. If it’s true, I live a good and moral purpose filled life. If it’s false, I have still lived a good and moral purpose filled life.
Yep. Follow a comedian across several talk shows. Watch the hosts provide the exact same setup for the "spontaneous" jokes. Once you realize that everything is scripted, it opens your eyes.
.
Bill Maher doesn’t believe ANY of the crap that comes out of his mouth.
That makes him EXACTLY like politicians from BOTH parties. Everything is scripted. Open your eyes.
Spend some time around two-year-olds and get back to us.
‘If it’s true, I live a good and moral purpose filled life. If it’s false, I have still lived a good and moral purpose filled life.’
and you have corroborated my point that theism is not crucial to your good and moral life with your if-then conditional statement...
as for eternity and perfection, pure conjecture; contract law demands offers have real consideration backing them, not hypotheses...
