“Last night, I was swatted just after 1 am. I can’t express enough gratitude to my local law enforcement here in Rome, Floyd County. More details to come,” Taylor Greene wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
“Swatting” is commonly defined as “the action of making a false report of a serious emergency so that a SWAT team (= a group of officers trained to deal with dangerous situations) will go to a person’s home, by someone who wants to frighten, upset, or cause problems for that person”. The act usually involves heavily armed police.
The act of “swatting” has been applied to a number of anti-establishment figures in recent months, with former Trump advisor Stephen K. Bannon being swatted at his Capitol Hill townhouse, and YouTuber Tim Pool experiencing the same several times over in the past year, sometimes while live on air.

If someone calls 911 in Washington DC to report a case of elder abuse at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is it a prank call?
Some cities do in fact have special notices and procedures for certain addresses that have been frequently targeted for SWATTING.
It is a recurrent and serious problem with executives of video game companies and certain movie companies. The rest of us can just take our chances, I suppose.
I have had occasion to request a public safety note for an address that was under a specific threat for false emergency reports. The local police were unaware that such a procedure was available and believed that such notices could not originate from a citizen report. They did not want to even admit that such notices existed. "Not public records or available to the public" was the comment. "Intended only to protect police forces".
A polite, insistent conversation resulted in the address being noted for cautionary response.
YMMV with your local police force.

We just say something like, “Rot in jail, then.” Then we hang up.
I always thought, when someone calls 911, their phone number gets recorded. But who knows for sure?
Even with burner phones, they have the approximate location of the phone at the time of the call. And ESPECIALLY with burner phones, they have several days to several weeks of location trace data that can be retrieved.
The phone companies fall all over themselves to cooperate with such requests when they come from Federal agents.
When the Government believes it is important, they catch these guys.
Why just a elected representative of the people? Regular folks can be shot by the cops just the same in a situation like this.
Here’s the thing, though, even if someone is SWATTED, that doesn’t mean that the cops are rolling up, bashing down your front door, Flash banging every room in the house.
Has it happened? Yes. While I am a fan of Greene, I’m betting that they know where she lives and didn’t go charging in there.

It was made to a third party “crisis line” then passed to police.

The “Newsweek” story I read and linked on my blog says after the first call to the Virginia based line there was a second one.
The caller saying the fake first call using a computer generated voice was made over MTG’s views on “transgender youth rights”.
Maybe it’s time for the people to start swatting the lefties, but without the use of government thugs.

My wife and I now have something in common with the Cogresswoman...in our case; no one was prosecuted, even though the guilty parties were KNOWN to the cops. The ‘swatter’ was the ‘god daughter’ of a town employee, so it’s all good. Bitch.
