“Swatting” is commonly defined as “the action of making a false report of a serious emergency so that a SWAT team (= a group of officers trained to deal with dangerous situations) will go to a person’s home, by someone who wants to frighten, upset, or cause problems for that person”. The act usually involves heavily armed police.
The act of “swatting” has been applied to a number of anti-establishment figures in recent months, with former Trump advisor Stephen K. Bannon being swatted at his Capitol Hill townhouse, and YouTuber Tim Pool experiencing the same several times over in the past year, sometimes while live on air.

I first heard about SWATting in relation to the activities of Brett Kimberlin, the Speedway Bomber. He served time for his crimes and was ultimately released in 2001. Later on, people who discussed his crimes on the internet were subject to such things as SWATting and harassment lawsuits, courtesy of Kimberlin and his friends.
It’s been happening to many people of all backgrounds. It is a problem for five years at least.
Especially to 911 or the cop station. I know they talk about burner phones but I thought that ever since 9/11, personal info has to be given to activate a cell phone. I know I had to with a prepaid.
