DETROIT (AP) — Ford Motor Co. is cutting about 3,000 white-collar jobs as it attempts to lower costs and make the transition from internal combustion to electric vehicles.
Leaders of the Dearborn, Michigan, automaker made the announcement Monday in a companywide email, saying that 2,000 full-time salaried workers would be let go along with another 1,000 contract workers.
The salaried worker cuts represent about 6% of a 31,000 workforce in the U.S. and Canada. Ford’s 56,000 union factory workers are not affected.

Death spiral...
More job cuts to come when customers don’t flock to buy their overpriced EVs.
But thankfully they will be trying to sell electric vehicles to Californians who are being told to not charge them during brown outs. I would prefer to see 6 percent job losses in government at all levels — especially management and higher — than in an American headquartered company. But the State must be fed. First. And last.
The UAW may be off the hook for now, but once people sour on those EVs, union jobs will also have to be on the chopping block.
They don't care if they sell 1 EV, they've already got their billions from the taxpayer to make them.
The temporary respite from high fuel costs, increasing inflation rate, and a crashing market won’t last. The Dems are hoping that they can keep things from being dismal until after November. Because the public is stupid, and if not under constant pain, will revert back to voting Dem, because it makes them feel good about themselves.
That, and Republicans, for the most part, are turds.
Collectivists make plans and have ideas, without regard for how it will work out.
Maybe nobody at Ford is old enough to Remember the Edsel!
Driven Fords for years. Won’t drive an electric Ford.
their zero-ICE, zero sedan strategy not looking too good, after all?
Dear Ford, Don’t do it.
EVs are losers.
Don’t fall for the hype!
The F-150 has always been a perennial seller but having a hard time picturing farmers and ranchers buying the electric versions when they have barns and sheds full of gas and oil cans and are used to tinkering under the hood on their various motorized equipment. It just doesn't seem to fit.
On the other hand, there are suburban F-150 owners who buy these trucks for the aesthetic. They want to appear rugged to their friends and neighbors.
I know one F-150 owner who is fastidious about the appearance of his truck. Always has it nice and shiny and never puts anything in the truck bed as he doesn't even want to get a scratch on the liner. He has the F-150 for the look and not at all for the functionality and practibility.
That’s what happens when the .gov gives tax credits of $7500 and the .corp raises prices by $8500.
Every time I visit my Ford dealer for regular service, I advise sales force I’ll never buy an EV, nor any vehicle that is white (to facilitate driverless navigation).
The power of the dollar. Many of us are older and don’t represent the future, but we currently have the numbers and the dollars. Use ‘em.
Is Toyota and Honda preparing to make the same defeatist moves?
H1bs.
Vote Democrat!
Small price to pay to save earth.
I thought Biden said all his green programs would create millions of jobs?
