After setting up a Gmail account in the mid-aughts, Mark, who is in his 40s, came to rely heavily on Google. He synced appointments with his wife on Google Calendar. His Android smartphone camera backed up his photos and videos to the Google cloud. He even had a phone plan with Google Fi.
Two days after taking the photos of his son, Mark’s phone made a blooping notification noise: His account had been disabled because of “harmful content” that was “a severe violation of Google’s policies and might be illegal.” A “learn more” link led to a list of possible reasons, including “child sexual abuse & exploitation.”

Google = Gulag
Exactly. Slap a rainbow sticker on it and he can get away with anything. Google would be fined for considering him a goomer.
That’s the Sarah Brady argument. Congratulations!
So much for “TELEDOC”.
It’s not - anything that goes to the cloud, even with a secure backup becomes “non-private” by definition.
All the cloud services (google, apple and Microsoft) scan photos on uploads to their services specifically to look for child porn.
That’s what they publicly say they’re scanning for... the question is, what other data are they scanning/collecting for?
Also doesn’t apply to you if you’re Hunter Biden.
You’re missing the point. Google and Apple are both searching your phones and reporting to police.
Take a photo of your child going to potty the first time is not porn. But FB and Apple can have the cops pay you a visit.
The difference is Apple has already said they will scan your data and report to police for crimes they think are worth reporting.
I got kicked off the googleverse for commenting that a tranny will NEVER be a woman on a youtube video. Google is evil.
It keeps a folder(and subfolders) on your PC synced with a folder(and subfolders) on a web server, preferably using your own domain name and hosting. So you could have something like this,
Nextcloud
—— Documents
—— Pictures
and set up your camera import software to use that Pictures folder.
Or you could set up your standard premade folders as your sync. With Windows 7, it would look like this,
Documents and Settings
—— John
———— Documents
———— Pictures
———— Music
———— Videos
and so on but you’d likely want to have John as the top level folder.
John
—— Documents
—— Pictures
—— Music
—— Videos
Folders can be excluded as well. The folder/subfolders structure are matched. Since I don’t want to share everything in my home folder, I made a Nextcloud folder and just drag things there.
My sync client starts up with my OS and continually monitors my Nextcloud folder on the PC and the folder on the web server. Delete something on one and it deletes the other. Add something to one and it gets added to the other. Works in both directions.
Domain name, $15/yr
Hosting, $4/mth if you pay for three years at once.
Most hosting will have a one click installation for nextcloud and/or owncloud.
On all hosting, you can create email addresses. john@mydomain.com for instance. They have webmail software installed on the server. There will be smtp settings to set up an email client or various server apps.
“That’s the Sarah Brady argument. “ Well if you want more pedophiles to run around free..... then talk to your legislature to put an end to this google policy.
I’d guess 100%. By definition if you “work” at a liberal big tech company you’re probably a pervert.
Except that’s false. Apple is not “searching your phone”.
If it goes through Google, it isn’t secure.
I use a camera for my camera.
To a point, I agree with Google. Our pediatrician has never asked for photos of our children’s private areas, even when the issue was something like a UTI. We sent in photos of eczema on arms/legs or even the poop in a diaper. But if it was somewhere private, they wanted us to come in person. They have never asks for or if they can take photos to save in their system.
Side note because I feel it’s worth calling out. Our pediatrician is from west africa. Hes outspokenly principled and always talks about his love for this country and the opportunity it has. He also hates BLM which gives me a laugh when he brings it up.
Does nextcloud do auto backups of photos and files on your phone?
Over 24 years ago the local photo developer flagged pics taken by my 11 year old of her 1 year old sister sitting in the tub.
