Former Vice President Mike Pence said he took no classified material along with him when he left office last year – but refused to condemn his former boss, Donald Trump, for allegedly having shipped boxes of top-secret documents to his Florida home.
“I honestly don’t want to prejudge it before, until, we know all the facts,” Pence said Friday during a visit to the Iowa State Fair, an obligatory stop for politicians weighing a White House bid.
The former veep’s two-day Iowa swing followed a Wednesday speech in New Hampshire, another must for potential presidential candidates, where he drew the ire of Trump supporters for denouncing their calls to “defund the FBI” following last week’s raid on Mar-a-Lago.

You would have thought he got the message after the butt kicking he got in AZ.
Before making this comment, did Mike consult with the same three lawyers whose advice he followed on January 6th?
Well, bless your little heart, Mikey.
Mike “Judas” Pence.
THis guy is so middle-of-the-road he ought to be a highway center line.
No real postions on anything, it seems...
Defund Pence.
What a traitorous scumbag POS Mike Pence is.
I can’t believe I once thought it he was a good man. Total bottom of the barrel Traitor Trash.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be.
They must have a really big hog exhibit this year.
Biggest bore, er, boar this year is 1300 pounds…
That’s called “Giving yourself an out.”
The kids that got wedgies daily in the Jr. High cafeteria.
The way he’s been kissing butt, I’m surprised he hasn’t come down with monkey pox of the face. /s
He’s pretending to take the moral high ground.
Who knows.
If the left thinks it would pay for them to have Pence in office, I could see them letting him “win” to try to snow the right.
He’s wolf in sheep’s clothing and is just another deep stater with a different cover. It would really be no choice as they’re all working for the same side.
“Jeb Bush and Lindsay Graham also come to mind.”
True, but honestly, it would seem the list of Republicans doing their jobs is shorter than trying to name all of the bad ones. But those 2 are up there. Mitt Romney is probably the worst, but there’s a lot of competition.
But I am using “disappointing” to more narrowly describe the Republicans who at one time or another had me believing they would do a pretty good job. I never really expected good things from Romney. So my feelings toward him are less on the disappointing side, and more toward disgust.
W is the only president I’ve met. I expected great things from him. He delivered on some. And he convinced me to support the war in Iraq. He could have used 9/11 to rally support to secure the border. Christians in the Middle East have been destroyed because of the war and our lack of a plan to protect them. And then Obama came along and worked with Hillary to help those who hate Christians o further harm them.
And W never had any criticisms of Obama. He saved them for Trump. As far as I’m concerned W could hang for war crimes and I wouldn’t care or come to his defense.
And if it turns out Pence was working behind the scenes to undermind President, I’d feel the same about him.
George W Bush was a major disappointment. “Compassionate conservatism” was simply lip service to the voter base. George had no real vision for the country and he certainly didn’t view his role as protecting the liberty of citizens. Had he cared about freedom and liberty he would never have proposed the “Patriot Act” which gave the intelligence agencies and the FBI clearance to violate the constitutional rights of citizens with impunity.
My take is most Republican politicians are administrators, not ideologues. They wear the “conservative” mantle during campaigns because the voter base is conservatives and demands at minimum lip service to conservative principles. However, they are not driven by a limited government, free market, individual liberty ideology. They have no compelling vision for the country, they just say what the voters want to hear to get elected. They then go about trying to get along in the inside the beltway club and many chase money and power.
Which means he won’t back his old boss at all.
What a limp wick.
