That said, Why did Cheney even bother running for re-election, in a state that voted more heavily for Trump than any other, twice? What is characterised in the press as a “split” in the Republican Party — between Trump’s supporters on one hand, and conventional Republicans on the other — in fact is not a schism or factional matter at all. It more closely resembles an ice floe upon which the decrepit and useless remnant of the party has been set adrift.
The neoconservatives who proudly announced that they would vote for Biden in 2020 because they put “country over party”, now await smugly in their splendid palace of principle for the rest of the Republicans, having come to their senses, to slink shamefully back, asking for guidance. But they wait in vain. Mainstream Republican voters, even if they don’t especially love Trump, embrace the program of the new GOP: no new wars, law and order, an end to Wokeness in public schools, and sensible pro-family policies that don’t include intentional immiseration of the middle class through exponentially inflated energy costs.
Add ‘Fix the freakin border already’ to the list for new Gop
Yup
Fat lot of good it did her.
Good one!
We didn’t believe that after bombing Iraq, the Bush gang would call us terrorists.
And Herself would be halfway into her second term. There’s no way “Bush III” could have won. What states would he have carried, that Trump didn’t? That free traitor couldn’t have wrested the Rust Belt states from Democrat clutches, no way.
The lines are being redrawn to form a new coalition of Normal Makers to fight off the Perverse Takers in both parties
“But the problem for Liz Cheney, Dick Cheney, the Bushes, and their comrades-in-exile, is that they aren’t wanted by their own party, the other party has little use for them, and they lack the most important element for power in an electoral system — a constituency.”
Bingo! Who would vote for Liz Cheney in 2024? We, as in the rank and file Republicans, would give her fewer votes than Jeb got in 2016. The Democrat party has too many peaceniks to ever carry a neocon like her over the top. The neocons are fast going the way of the Whig party in the mid 1800s. Hip, hip, horray!
This is what happens when rhinos turn into kangaroos.
Cheney has two daughters
Liz and Lez.
Kamala got less than 2% in the Democratic presidential primaries and look where she is today.
Democracy, yay!
;-)
Hahahaaha!!!!
I wouldn’t celebrate too much yet… Apparently the one that beat Liz Cheney is best buddies with her and the Cheney family
Well, Idiocracy, yay!
Right now President Camacho would be a tremendous improvement. :)
I work constantly with the “Latino” boys and their families in the oil fields here in the Great Plains. They’re all in for the right wing. There’s not a leftist among them. They bust ass and want that money and the lifestyle for themselves, their wives and their kids. I say - Oh, yeah. 100K a year is why they’re here and they aren’t shirkers
Great to hear. Hope you and your industry survives these jerks in power.
DITTO!
Even with that, Bush and Obama (HA) SHOULD have screamed bloody murder about the MAL RAID!!
There is nothing conservative about Liz. Using the prefix ‘neo’ changes nothing about that.
It’s a big club and they are all in it and we are not. The left said crazy stuff about Cheney and we as the good Republicans we are, fought back. BUT upon further review, just for me personally I did not really dig into him. As long as they were not Democrats right?
Democrat and Republican is a construct that they have lead us to believe in.
Trump once a Democrat or that is at least what some people thought, betrayed the Democrats. Or did he? Who knows? But he sure is living rent free in a lot of heads and in my opinion, that keeps the rest of us a bit safer. Trump is the buffer.
