Clad in mismatched fatigues, Ukrainian Marine recruits sprawled on the grass, cocking their assault rifles and aiming at targets. Then, to the surprise of their American instructors, one by one they started squeezing the trigger.
“Cease fire!” yelled Steven Tomberlin, 62, a retired police officer from Colorado overseeing this part of the training. “Until I give the command. You. Do. Not. Do. Anything.” When the firing resumed, bullets hit the dirt berm, often far off the mark.
“Most of these people have just been mobilized. They were electricians or tractor drivers yesterday, and many have never held a weapon in their hands,” said Sr. Lt. Anton Solohub, a deputy commander of this Ukrainian Marine battalion, as he watched the first day of a crash course provided by a group of mostly American veterans.
“These instructors have promised that they will turn my men into some kind of special force in 10 days,” Lt. Solohub mused. “Let’s see.”

Why are they training them as Marines and not soldiers?
More likely we are degrading the U.S. ability to wage war.
They mean more "available cannon fodder". It takes a special kind of evil to throw such poorly trained noobs into the meat grinder. They will achieve nothing.
Parris Island, '89.
For every hundred Ukrainians who go through the all too brief Marine training, a handful will be natural combat leaders who take the training to heart and put the lessons into practice. In the end that is what matters most.
I’m all for Russia helping Serbia get its’ territory back too. Good for the goose
I’ll bet our vets are wasting time on diversity and equity training. Incoming makes your mind right very fast.
“I’m all for Russia helping Serbia get its’ territory back too. Good for the goose”
If Russia can’t decisively beat Ukraine in a reasonable amount of time, then it isn’t going to be able to do squat for Serbia.
First you claim, "Ukraine doesn’t have the men to keep up."
Then, when that specious claim has its legs knocked out from under it, you try the converse: Ukraine has too much manpower!
You can't be taken seriously!
Regards,
Yeah, approx. 70,000 dead or wounded Russian soldiers - and the ability of U.S. forces to wage war has been degraded!
Laughable!
Russia has lost its capital ship of the Black Sea Fleet - but the U.S. military has been weakened!
Russia has lost dozens and dozens of tank battalions - but U.S. forces have been weakened!
Putin invaded Ukraine to prevent NATO expansion, but ends up actually strengthening NATO as well as doubling his border with NATO - but our military might has been degraded!
You should try stand-up comedy!
Regards,
I would be rolling on the ground, holding my sides with laughter, if it came to that!
Yeah, Russia: Bring it on for your "Little Slavic Brother!" Skin that smoke-wagon!
Serbia voted with the majority of the UN Human Rights Council to suspend Russia from the group over its military operation in Ukraine.

“We just burned through seven years of Javelins and that’s not only important as we continue to try and help the Ukrainians win in Ukraine, that’s important as we try to simultaneously defend Taiwan from aggression from the Chinese Communist Party. They are going to need access to some of these same weapons systems, and we simply don’t have the stockpiles at present in order to backfill what we’ve spent in Ukraine.”

The mineral antimony is critical to the defense-industrial supply chain and is needed to produce everything from armor-piercing bullets and explosives to nuclear weapons as well as sundry other military equipment, such as night vision goggles.
Countries that supply critical minerals to the United States include China, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, and Canada. The USGS report indicates that 20 out of the 23 critical minerals that the United States needs come from China. For some of these minerals, China has flooded the market with low prices, and raised them later when their competitors were out of business.
Using up our existing stockpiles of weapons by threatening and fighting proxy wars with the countries that supply us with the strategic materials to build said weapons is degrading the U.S. ability to wage war.
That’s not even considering that the U.S. is broke with the official national debt exceeding 120% of GDP. (The unofficial national debt is over 200% of GDP).
So yeah, go team Globalist! Show those nasty Ruskies who’s boss!
