Former Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday he would give “due consideration” to any formal invitation to testify before the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, while hinting at potential executive privilege issues.
Pence made the remarks during a Q&A after a speech here at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics’ “Politics & Eggs” breakfast, a common stop for candidates considering a run for office.
“If there was an invitation to participate, I would consider it,” Pence said, after calling January 6 a tragic day for all Americans. “But, you heard me mention the Constitution a few times this morning. Under the Constitution, we have three co-equal branches of government, and any invitation to be directed to me, I would have to reflect on the unique role I was serving in as vice president.

He’s mad that he didn’t get invited sooner.
He wants the chance to lie about Trump.
Judas also went before the Jewish clergy and said if you give me 30 pieces of silver I will in return give you Jesus! This lying pious POS thinks he’s so righteous but deep down he’s just as sinful and evil as those rats in the swamp! Don’t think for one minute that he is a Christian ... He’s just another shyster a wolf in sheep’s clothing! At the end we will all be accountable before God Almighty! Besides if I were you I’d be careful cause you might end up behind bars! We have you on video promising that you would object to the election of the vegetable in front of the Congress. Backstabbing weasel! These are the type of people that give Christianity a sour taste in people’s mouths!
Without a doubt. Do you recall how Pence, as VP, wouldn't have a meal with a female alone? He claimed he and his wife thought it best to keep temptation at arms length? What a freakin' KooK.
I don’t think Navarro, Perry, Stone, Bannon, would use the word “invited.” Comey tried to make the Flynn FBI trap sound friendly, but later Flynn found out it wasn’t. Maybe Pence thinks he is going to get the Hillary treatment.
He used to be an anti-immigration hawk and outspokenly conservative. He was tight with Pat Buchanan--especially on immigration.
(What the heck turned out to be in his brain?)
I think that’s why Trump is such an outlier, Washington DC didn’t change him one bit.
Pence couldn’t grasp that there were shady things that took
place during the election and the count.
All Trump was asking him to do, was refuse to ratify the
Electoral Vote, until some serious investigating had been
completed. He was not trying to topple an honest vote.
Pence is another of those brilliant guys in the GOP that
think the 2020 election was the most secure in our nation’s
history.
He has a child’s mind on this topic. When he walks in
front of that committee, who knows what he’ll blurt out.
In his mind, Trump tried to nullify an election. NO,
he just wanted to make sure it was legit, and frankly
everyone should.
Mike is too stupid to be the CIC.
He might understand that our government is illegitimate, but he also knows it is likely to punish those who criticize it. Sad.
Well, he served with Trump, and if he does see that, then
it’s high time he get behind Trump and push.
It’s the only way we’ll see change.
“Due consideration” means the consideration he thinks it’s due, which is probably not much. Not that he’s loyal to the Republicans or Trump, but he is an opportunist, and he is nobody’s fool, and he does know that the J6 Committee is a total circus, and unless that changes sometime in the future, he will put middle fingers up and play the loyalty card.
The same reasons we don’t see more whistleblowers coming forward: Ignorance or cowardice.
Agreed...
Or simple hatred of Trump, unreasonably so.
Sounds like Benedict Arnold's excuse for joining the other side.
Winner!
🏆🏆🏆
That little POS would do anything to help his uni party buddies screw Trump and all of us.
Benedict Arnold had a b!tchy Anglo-phile wife, and was out of the action due to battlefield injury, so while guarding West Point fortress, his wife worked on him together with the boredom, until he switched sides. Prior to that, he was a decorated hero and close friend of General Washington.
I do see the similarities.
But like everyone in politics, Pence does not make a move without his own interests in view, and testifying before the Committee would be suicidal for him and make him a pariah among Republicans, unless his testimony put a serious dent in the desired narrative.
On the back of Cheney’s loss in Wyoming I can only shake my head at the clueless stupidity of these people. Does Pence think that this will improve his prospects? Did Cheney actually think she stood a chance of winning?
PJ O’Rourke once wrote that on a good day the average politician might be able to spell is own name. We look for grand conspiracies but I’m afraid that the brutal reality is that these people are just plain stupid. Yes there are evil people about and they do engage in conspiracies. But I remain convinced that stupidity is the main factor. Why would a politician take action that destroys the prosperity of his own area? It’s a monumentally stupid act.
So, yes. Pence and Cheney are exactly as stupid as they appear.
Just the quality we have all grown to hate, rolled up in Pence.
This nothing burger is about to see his last days as political anybody!!!
Religious conservatives who may have been turned off by 3 marriages and the women who were popping up.
