Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) was projected to advance from the state’s Republican Senate primary, setting her up to compete in November’s midterm general election.
The Associated Press made the call at 1:41 p.m. ET.
The incumbent senator was widely expected to advance from the all-party primary in which the top four vote-getters advanced to the general election.
The primary was seen as a test for former President Trump’s endorsement. Trump backed Murkowski’s primary challenger Kelly Tschibaka in the wake of Murkowski’s vote to convict him in his second impeachment trial.
Tschibaka was also projected to advance early Wednesday morning.

Ranked system voting, which is designed to protect incumbents.
AK is the only state in the country to have it. It needs to be abolished which unfortunately won't happen because the pol's there will never allow it.
Another way of looking at these results is that in an open primary 58% voted against the Hag based on early returns. I expect the rural vote, which is apparently not yet in, will go even more heavily against her. It now a matter of projecting how many Dems who supported the Dem candidate Chesbro will vote for the Hag in November. The other top four Republican, Kelley, should do the right thing and drop out.
LOL.
All cultures are equal...
I would take any Zulu over and CBC member any day..................
The other Gopers that voted for others may vote
for Kelly in the general. Trump needs to put
money into this election if he wants the HAG out.
Maine has RCV, too.
Wharton a coinkydink, eh?
What a coinkydink...
That’s a low bar...
😜............................
Alaska has a funky ranked choice voting system, the top 4 candidates advance to November, it would hard to imagine Murkowski not advancing, the race is not over, it just means that we have a couple of months left to destroy Murkowski’s political career.
Ranked-choice voting the US by state
State-wide use Local option for municipalities to opt-in Local elections in some jurisdictions Use in presidential primaries
This small detail you mentioned, really needs to have a closer look. It would REALLY be enlightening, to know HOW many people went to the polls in Alaska..and crossed over and wanted to hijack the Trump choice. Can we elaborate on this?
I see this as well as election meddling. Again the DEMOCRATS use nefarious methods to ram rod their ideas.
Tribal votes.
Murkowski is likely to be asked to join the Democrats.
I know what you mean. I "had to" to vote for Mitch McConnell the last time he ran because the alternative was far, far-left Amy McGrath, who claims to be the most liberal person in Kentucky.
I usually don't vote FOR people; normally, I vote AGAINST their opponent.
What difference would it make? She's a friggin RAT.
Murkowski is a Democrat in all but name, most of her voters are Democrats.
That 4% could be Democrats for Murkowski trying to eliminate her opposition.
