Heavy Losses Leave Russia Short of Its Goal, U.S. Officials Say
NYT ^ | 11-AUG-2022 | Helene Cooper

The staggeringly high rate of Russian casualties in Ukraine means that President Vladimir V. Putin may not be able to achieve one of his key war objectives: seizing the entire eastern region of the country this year, officials in the Biden administration and military experts say.

With 500 Russian troops killed or wounded every day, according to the latest estimate by American intelligence and military officials, Russia’s war effort has decelerated to a grinding slog, the officials said.

That would mean Russia lost 50% of the force with which they invaded.

Not seeing it.

In fact it is the UKA taking heavy losses …..over 2,000 in just one unit per recent reporting.

Maybe you can cite us a battle where the Ukes provably eliminated 500 Russian troops?

good thing there hasn’t been any Ukrainian losses!

Ukie Tank Girl scratched her arm and mussed her mascara as she was destroying another RuZZian armored division on her personal advance on Moscow itself.

If the Russians were winning, wouldn’t they have won by now?

The Russians have panicked and are retreating in disorder in the wrong direction wrecking havoc with the well ordered Ukrainian forces to the West of them.

All of these wars have been about keeping oil prices in control of the globalist cartels

for example, they got caught stealing Iraq oil slant drilling from Kuwait, so they sent US troops to say "you're free to go", then slaughtered them on the Hiway of Death as they left

Libya same thing, Trump same thing, he was throwing a monkey wrench in the plan to milk the US economy dry, so they performed a successful coup and propped up a senile puppet and artificial inflation.

this Russia is a rogue and has to go , " to keep the world safe for Globalism, time to send in the US military complex and mow down those Russian evildoers

In defense of the NYT article they didn’t make the ridiculous claim they just quoted the Biden administration and “military experts” who haven’t told the truth about their proxy war since it began.

Russia MOD: “As a result of the offensive actions of the allied forces in the Soledar area, the losses of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than two thousand people. The remnants of the personnel of the brigade were withdrawn by the Ukrainian command to the rear areas.”

“In the areas of the settlements of Opytnoye and Nevelskoye of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as a result of high-precision strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces, the losses of the 56th motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in manpower exceeded 70 percent of the payroll.”

“The personnel of the 23rd battalion of the brigade in full strength left their combat positions without permission and departed for the rear areas.”

“As a result of concentrated fire strikes on the combat positions of Ukrainian nationalists in the Maryinka area of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the losses of the 3rd battalion of the 66th mechanized brigade in manpower amounted to more than 50%.”

“Near the settlement of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, a HIMARS launcher and a depot with ammunition for it were destroyed. In addition, four HIMARS rockets were shot down in the air near Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region.”

Intel Slava Z
🇷🇺🇺🇦 A source told the official that the largest air military operation in the last thirty years is being prepared in the next few weeks. This is the reason for the sabotage in Novofedorovka, the failed attack on Zyabrovka and the aggressive attempts of the Ukrainians to arrange a man-made disaster at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

The air operation will be carried out by massive aviation forces in close cooperation with formations and units of other branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Quotes from the article:

“With 500 Russian troops killed or wounded every day ...”

“Ukrainian government has been reluctant to disclose figures but has said 100 to 200 of its troops were being killed a day.”

So the Orcs receive 500 dead a day vs 200 for the UA. Sound kinda lopsided. And those numbers do no count the DNR/LNR separatist losses (no one counts them).

I don’t think anyone should believe any of these articles, nearly every day on FR we get competing articles about how bad each side is losing.

Some time ago I quit believing any of it, just let it play out and see what happens, at some point we’ll know who was mostly telling the truth, if Russia occupies Eastern Ukraine on a permanent basis, that will tell one story, if they don’t it will tell another.

IMO, NATO and the EU will begin to pull back, Western Europe is on the verge of real economic trouble and social unrest over the sanctions that have been applied to Russia, once Europe pulls back the US will be forced to do the same thing.

I didn't think 200,000 troops was enough.

200,000 is major and very intimidating, and more than enough to take over many countries. Problem was/is the ineptitude of the Russian military, officers and troops.

“I didn’t think 200,000 troops was enough. So I thought Putin was bluffing.”

Certainly 200k is not enough to take the whole of Ukraine. But perhaps the goal is not all of Ukraine.

I believe our thoughts on this invasion are clouded by WWII. Large movements, giant encirclements, ect….but those were fought by millions of men. No way you can repeat that with 200k. As a matter of fact, the area taken up to today is probably getting near the extent of what is possible with such low numbers of troops.

Ukraine is a huge country. They are finally getting their act together and fighting for their homeland like they should. 200,000 troops may not even be enough to take Kyiv, alone. For the invasion to actually work, they probably needed 500,000 troops. Assuming they have logistics and strategy worked out.

Russian forces have established complete control over the strategic settlement of Peski in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russia’s Defense Ministry has said.

Russians used TOS-1 thermobaric weapons in the middle of the village of Pisky. On residential buildings.

True, but it is probably worth noting that it has been a ghost town since 2014.

In the end, Putin will use tactical nukes if he has to use them to win. He thinks this fight is about the survival of Russia, just as the USA thought the fight over Soviet missiles in Cuba was worth nuclear war if necessary. Putin was never going to allow NATO on Russia’s border and said so for years as NATO marched closer.

“Russians used TOS-1 thermobaric weapons in the middle of the village of Pisky. On residential buildings.”

Peski was not a civilian target...it was a legitimate military target that only contained well fortified Ukrainian troops.

“In early August, Allied forces launched an offensive on the Donetsk section of the front. One of the targets was the village of Peski on the northwestern outskirts of the city, which had been turned into a solid fortification for eight years. Because of this all the inhabitants left the settlement long ago.”
