You have to show ID to buy alcohol, cigarettes, and even a can of whipped cream in New York State.
If you’ve bought the tasty addition to pie or ice cream since last fall in New York, you may have seen signs telling you you’ll have to hand over more than just payment at the register. Whipped cream cans are filled with nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas
If inhaled, the gas — also known as “whippets” or “whippits” — offers a type of high. Since November 2021, anyone under the age of 21 is prohibited from buying whipped cream cans. The law primarily targets the nitrous oxide canisters inside the cans, not the whipped cream itself, which is just guilty by association.
“I have not [done it], but I do know people who have,” says Chloe Diegel. “I think it seems a little ridiculous and silly, especially on days like this when you can make some ice cream sundaes.”
Democratic state Sen. Joseph Addabbo first proposed the legislation in 2019 after receiving numerous complaints in his Long Island district.

Cabot ANYTHING 👍
the only brand I buy
good point jack
Nitrous oxide is harmless.
I fantasized about that one as an adolescent.
ID for cream OK.
But ID to vote is racist.
The cream is white after all.
And yet they can still vote at 18.
Please Google search Whipped Cream and Other Delights album cover.
This was a top seller by Herb Alpert and many made satirical versions (guy with spaghetti sauce....). Teenage boys had a crush on the woman at the time it came out.

I just got through sending my post. When I worked at the record dept. of Korvette’s (discount dept. store) teenage boys had a crush on that woman.
We used to inhale the whipped creme gas because it makes your voice sound funny like Micky Mouse.
We didn’t even know it can get a buzz off it!!
LOL
It was 1965, I was 14, and Mom & Dad had that album on our stereo console. She was my very first love! I dreamt nonstop about what was under that whipped cream. Mom wouldn’t let me go see the “Goldfinger” movie, but they left that album conspicuously out. It was pure torture.
It wasn’t long after that I discovered dad’s friend “Chuck” had a huge stash of Playboy magazines in his basement. Suddenly, it was a lot more fun to visit Chuck and his family.
Small world! I worked part-time at Korvette’s in my college days. I loved that we got employee discounts even on sale items - like records.
The local Walmart won’t sell canned air to anyone under 18 (WA).
How old does a kid have to be to have a groomer cut off his twang in NY?
I used to buy 45 rpm records at Korvetts.
I distinctly remember going down the escalator to the record Dept to buy Richard Harris McArthur Park.
Guys who traveled to promote the various labels' albums gave us free LPs.
All time best for me: The Columbia guy from New York specially brought and gave me (he knew I was a Bob Dylan fanatic since his second album) the not yet released disc jockey promotional copy of Blonde On Blonde. Fantastic.
Sweet! 👍
Who would buy that crap anyway
"The photo shoot...began in mid-morning, went on through the afternoon, and paid Erickson approximately $1,500 plus expenses. Erickson, 29 years old and three months pregnant, sat on a stool with a white Christmas blanket covering her from the waist down, and wore a bikini with the straps down. She then was covered with shaving cream, which unlike whipped cream would not melt under the hot photographic lights, with a dollop of whipped cream on her head. As the shoot progressed, the shaving cream began to slide down her breasts slightly. Months later, Whorf sent her two outtakes. When she saw the more risqué pictures, she took them over to a girlfriend's house and hid them behind the friend's refrigerator, not wanting her conservative husband to find them. Initially, Alpert felt the cover image "was maybe pushing it a little too far ... I thought the censors would be down on it. But in 2006 it looks pretty darn tame."Interesting tidbit I just learned..."In the 1970s, Erickson returned to college, studying art in Portland, Oregon. She began painting, and owned the art gallery The Wild Deer, in Kelso, Washington, for a decade."
I was in Kelso in the summer of 1974 when I was working down the road at a paper mill in Longview, Washington.
Then..."In the 1970s she married attorney Bob Huffhines Jr. Bob and Dolores Erickson Huffhines were together for 35 years. They resided in Longview, Washington.
LOL...we were almost neighbors!
A few weeks ago I was carded while buying primer. A gallon, not a spray can. :(
LOL! I was just thinking of that album cover when I read the title of this post!
Now I am thinking of the photo of Howard Stern with two bikinied beauties, one whose bikini was made of whipped cream. (No one else on our work crew who saw the photo noticed it but me!)
