In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Admiral Ackbar believes he is ambushing a partly built "death star," only to find that it is fully operational and an enemy fleet has arrived. In a famous movie understatement, now embedded in pop culture, Ackbar exclaims, "It's a trap!" Now Democrats have planted an even more nefarious trap by having their minions in the FBI raid Donald Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago.
The former president's estate in Palm Beach, Florida was the subject of an FBI search warrant in the late hours on Monday by two dozen agents, with 15 boxes of documents removed from the premises. The papers allegedly contain classified national security information and correspondence between Mr. Trump and leaders of other countries.
Okay, that's a raid, not a trap. The trap is what the Democrats hope the volatile and impulsive ex-president does in response.
Perhaps the worst kept secret in politics is that Donald Trump will, sometime this year, announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. The 2022 elections are still before us, however, and the Republicans are thought to have a good chance of reclaiming the House of Representatives in November, if not the Senate — that is, as long as no one rocks the boat.
The Democrats have had some limited success regaining momentum as a result of the January 6 committee hearings and the untimely decision of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Their spin doctors are hard at work making small drops in gas prices and the rate of inflation look like a roaring economy despite two straight quarters of negative growth. Crime, immigration, and multiple other issues remain a burden for the left.

I suspect the lawyer was talking in general terms. It is not reasonable to think there were cameras in their private quarters sending video out to the world.
Certainly the entrances to those rooms would have security cameras, but never the interior.
Trumps biggest obstacles are entrenched GOP leaders in the Senate and House. Especially moderate and liberal Republicans parading too often as pseudo conservatives. I do think Trump is setting them up for a major reshuffling if he is reelected. If most of those he successfully supported in the primaries get elected and he beats the Demoncrat nominee he is going to have a lot of power to reshuffle leadership in the GOP. The raid, so far, has invigorated Trumps base and put a pretty powerful litmus test on who is with him and who is not. The Swamp erred in letting this raid happen, it is playing in to Trumps narrative perfectly.

I take that back. It is entirely possible and reasonable that Trump has cameras in all rooms including his own private rooms that he can turn off when there. He might wish to do so to prevent unauthorized prowling in his personal effects.
There are people who would steal Melania’s gloves just to know they have them.
Plus of course, thugs like the FBI.
So thinking it over, I feel it is more than likely that every inch of the place could be survailed at will. Some areas turned off when he or the family were there.
If so, he must be getting a huge kick out of what is happening. If so no wonder he is baiting them to publish the warrant. Next will come his pressure to publish the affidavit that contained the claims that birthed the warrant.
The democrats are not fooling anybody. Wait for the midterm results. They are in for a shocker!

It wouldn’t have required Trump to do much really. How hard was it to guess that the FIB might pull something like this? Not that hard I’d say. All he had to do was make sure there was nothing sensitive there for them to find, and be ready with a statement once they did conduct the raid.
Its not like this is a new message for him. It just further underlines what he’s been saying all along anyway.

The only way this “trap” works, is if Trump announcing his 2024 run would hurt Republicans’ midterm prospects - and it wouldn’t.
There are two schools of thought regarding President Trump and the Republican Party - one correct, and the other baloney:
The correct one is that President Trump is the undisputed leader of the Republican Party, a party which has been energized at the grass roots by Trump’s powerful MAGA movement. What is good for President Trump is good for Republicans, and visa-versa.
The “baloney” one is the idea that President Trump is nothing but baggage for Republicans and he needs to “get out of the way” if there is to be a red wave in November. According to this notion, an early announcement by President Trump would remind voters why they don’t want to vote for Republicans in the midterms.
This sentiment is favored by Republican establishment elites who are still in denial regarding the MAGA transformation of the Republican Party, and the depth of President Trump’s popularity.
Establishment pundits also tout the divided government theory - the idea that voters instinctively prefer a balance - where one party controls the White House, and the other party controls Congress. This suggests that if a Trump win in 2024 is a foregone conclusion, then voters will leave Congress in the hands of the Democrats.
There are several reasons President Trump would rather hold off on announcing a 2024 run - but hurting Republicans in the midterms is NOT one of them.

The Dims want to run against Trump in 2022 and make every local election about Trump. After the mid-terms is plenty of time to announce.
If he has the camera footage of the raid he has the camera footage when the lock was put on and all the way through

I’d be more concerned that the govt. could leave some toxin or contagion behind. It’s a lot more difficult to find and neutralize that.

You are certainly right about that. However the same old corrupt RINOs will still be calling the shots in the GOP regardless.
From the very moment the new reps arrive in DC the RNC/GOP machinery will go to work on them and before their first term is over the party will own them. Trust me, this is how it really works.
If we can’t even do that, then we are done.

The FBI just got caught in one at Mar-a-Lago thanks to Trump's remote video system from which he watched the raid live while being in NYC.
